Spent some quality time this morning with
#77-621 plugged into a little bit different setup. Couple weeks ago, I snagged a
really good buy on an older Mesa Diesel 15 cab in the local Craigslist, and bought it just to keep in the Harwell-Grice band van. (so I don't have to carry a cabinet around anymore...) I even made a makeshift case for it out of an old shipping carton. Those things are built like a tank, and are about 80 lbs. It'll be fine living in the chaos of the Urban Assault Vehicle. It came with casters already mounted! Now (if ever the gigs return) I can show up with my two chosen Alembic basses and this Gator 3u zipper with an old red-knob model F-1X and a Crown XLS 1000 poweramp, and a small pedalboard that sits on top. It has only my Mesa DI, a Polytune strobe in a dedicated Tuner out, a Chorus and a Compressor, both in an effects loop. I keep this antique DS-1 unit
#27 with Dave's old Series I. It is a stereo-only unit, so I had a Y-adapter made so it was more gig-able. (and Jeannie, of course...)
I ran a few tests with it this morning... there is a touch of chorus here, and the Mesa DI 'boost' is engaged. EQ is basically flat... though I am boosting the bass and treble a bit at the F-1X. Deep & Bright switches are disengaged. 621's controls are set: both pickups on, bridge filter at about 40% open, Q-switch off, neck filter 85% open, Q-switch center.
The backing track is from Wikiloops. I particularly enjoy this drummer and guitarists' playing.
