Stephen, actually  from what I was told by a couple of bass players, it sounded fine in the venue but from where I was standing it was far too bassy which made it hard for me to tell if I was on or close to the right pitch so hopefully muscle memory was working well.
If have time to soundcheck next outing I will try to get a good sound that works for me and the venue as the settings were closer to what I would use on a regular gig than specifically for a DB.
Early last year before lockdown I went to see a band "Dominic Aldis Trio" and their double bass player was using a Big Baby II on a full acoustic DB and that sounded great so it is possible with some experimenting. I have been toying with the idea of getting one of those new "EBS Stanley Clarke Acoustic bass Preamps" both for this bass and as a portable preamp when I have to use a backline provided on any of my bass gigs then I can go straight into the power amp section of any bass rig.

I have done  one or two tracks with it on two other outings and those did get a lot of interest.
if there are any video clips that are up to scratch I will post links. :-)

Perhaps a 110 is a better match for the Classico.

Yep Rob it has been suggested to me before that a 1x10 with a compact class D bass head would be fine.
I got a used Schertler Unico from an online auction earlier in the year and I took for a service straight after buying it. I'm still waiting for that to come back and hoping that will be all I need. I think it has an 8" Woofer and 1" dome tweeter.

Here is a snippet from the gig taken but a friend of the band who drove the van down to the gig.
The bass was Di through a Markbass rig but i expect most of the sound is coming from the stage side fills. The bottom end sounds sweet though. Headphones or decent speakers are needed to hear it properly.

Nice job holding that little pocket together Jazzy. And extra points for the FAN at the hot afternoon outdoor upright gig!

Thanks, it was a nice gig and some of the tracks had me on the edge trying to transpose on the fly with unfamiliar tracks.  Phew. It was a fun gig and by the second half most of the audience were on their feet dancing. Bass players in the crowd were really complimentary about both my playing and the sound which was described by one as Authentic, smooth and classy.

Not a great picture of my Epic, but definitely my favorite picture of me playing it.
For me this is what it's all about - jamming with a close friend, pictures are 27 years apart

That's great, Shark. I had a similar deja-vu moment Friday night with a couple old buddies of mine. We were running the roads together playing music all the way back in the early 90's. Had a 3-hour bar gig together the other night. 30 years on, still a blast, every time.

(pics of us are from gigs a couple years ago, but recent... wish I had some of us from back then. Someone probably does...)

Hey Greg, that hollow-body bass in your first photo looks lovely.

There is magic in long term musical relationships.
Congratulations to both of you!
