Mica, you state that the Alembic was first registered in Louisiana. I think I know this bass! I am going to search for some pictures of it I took when it was new. I played a festival and shared the bill with the owner of this bass. I took a bunch of pictures of it, I will just need to find them. The bass was new back then. I remember that he had it strung as a 4 string. That may explain the extra grooves cut in the bridge!
I also remember him being quite fascinated with the bass I had then too. It was Alembic 74-62, which was a large pointy bass with a walnut top and cream colored pickups.
