Very cool, though I doubt that is a live mix.  I suspect 25 guitars, 25 basses, and 40 drummers would be more reminiscent of Woodstock = lots of mud!

Thanks a lot, I know the recorded drums and guitars there live, but just to add to whole mix pic, basses were done in studio. Yea it was fun to do that, great experience, and everything sounded huge
The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.

It is fretless. The wood is Masur Birch which I had spotted in the Wood Bank section under the heading “ Out in Left Field.” Has a center Ebony stripe running through neck which really ties together the brightness of the Birch and the smooth low end of the ebony fingerboard. Play through an F-1X pre-amp. As always Mica and Susan’s input helped create an amazing sounding bass.

Nine years ago today Mica handed this lovely dream bass to me at their Santa Rosa Facility. The joy of playing it has made me a better player and improved my ability to shape my sound more effectively for live gigs. The tone, playability and articulation is incredible. Whilst i am not the original owner i asked the seller 'Poor Nigel' to send it to Santa Rosa so i could pick it up there and attend the 2012 annual gathering.
Great memories of that trip and i really enjoyed meeting Mica, some of the alembic team, Ron, Bill tgo and his family and the some of the members of this forum. Thanks 👍🏾

Happy Anniversary. Thomas had exquisite taste in basses and guitars. He wanted players to have them, and I'm certain he is delighted to see you with it today.  :)

He did indeed and I am extremely honoured that he chose me to be the new owner after noting how much Interest I had in that bass. Respect to him.

Not long got home from my first gig since the UK Covid-19 lockdown early last year and it was also my first full gig on double bass. (Classico). I had a great time and some pleasing comments on my playing. Still a lot of work to do but i survived with my dignity in tact and a lot of interest in this bass.

Very nice, and it looks like you ended up using a full rig with it?

I used a small rig, my 1x12 cab and my F-1-x powered rig.

Cool shot, Barefaced cover visible in the upper left, the Classico probably sounded great through the Big Baby II. I imagine you are going to have to get used to fielding a lot of questions about the bass whenever you gig with it. Are there any video clips of this gig?
