Wolf, looks like you are deep in the groove.  Nice looking walnut Essence with sustain block and Q!  :)

From a welcome rescheduled, previously covid-cancelled gig, last night; a fundraising effort in the little community of Callaway in Franklin Co. Virginia, home of the Harwell-Grice Band. It was COLD here last night. My car said 44° after load-out. Brrr! Like everyone else, we've played very little this year... this was only our second time onstage this season with only one more thing in the books for 2020.

I took along the fretless Hyak Scroll bass [78-0502] for a backup and switchoff, (see it peeking out from behind the bass rig?) but played with "Joy" [#80-1684] most all evening. She's getting prepared and packed up safe today for the long trip home to California. Good things about to happen there.  :)

*had a little fun with the editor... picture is a videocapture anyway.  ::)

I hope you were able to stay safe.  After the events of this past week I'm even more inclined to stay home than I was before.

Stopped at my favorite local sandwich shop about a week ago, which I had visited maybe twice since February, and found they had to close again because one of the staff there had tested positive, this in a place that was following good protocols.

Good that you got to play again, but do stay safe.

Edit:  Ah; I see in the other thread that you were playing outside.  Good!  (Though a bit cold for sure.)

This recording session had to be postponed until after I got this last ESI. Then I had to practice a while... My smilin' buddy here (also a Gregory) runs an advertising agency, and records his own backing tracks. He's quite a monster drummer, and a pretty fair guitarist too, and truth be told, he could've just played the bass track himself, but he wanted me and my Alembic to come do them. So in a few weeks, the local restaurants, muffler shops, oil change places, just about anything you can imagine with a radio commercial needing a rock backing track will hear Greg and Greg, on bass, drums, and guitars.

Forthcoming Album working title is: "We Never Heard Of You Either"  ;D

Dave, your old bass really sings.... my goodness that thing is soooo sweet.  :)

Beautiful bass, is it fretless?  And is the top a type of burled maple?

Wow that bass is spectacular. I am impressed with anyone who plays fretless bass but to choose an alembic surely speaks volumes of the confidence a player has  in their own abillity to play consistently in tune. As we know alembic basses are completely honest and will shout from the rooftops in absolute clarity whatever you play, right or not.
Hats off to you sir. :)
Do you have any sound clips or youtube links?

I just found this pic in newspaper where I  did some live show for national TV station and somebody took a pic of a guy that did a video editing for music video.
I just though that's a great pic, can you spot an Alembic? :)

The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.

Oh yea forgot about that, truthfully I think this was made for some show for national TV station, I don't really know... but it was fun seeing all those people after lockdown and after not being able to play for long time.

Wow, that was awesome, looks like so much fun!   I love all of the percussion and the little guy on the purple drums, saw a fretless player in there too.  Thanks for sharing!  :)
