You're utterly right that they're addicting.
I love my other basses. Yet EVERY time I pick up the BigRedBass and start playing, it just RIGHT THERE . . the action, the look, and the sound. I always hear every note on the BRB as if they were under the light of a Super Trooper. My other axes, this part of the neck, that tone from the pickups, then I start noticing the construction and hardware . . . well it's just not fair to them. And they would be just great had I not know about Alembic. I often say if this was a piano, it would have to be a Bosendorfer or German Steinway. It's just that good. It's truly a lifetime instrument, not many electrics you can say that about. To me they are a perfect blend of art and technology, a blend that often leans too far to one side or the other. Not these.
I often joke that IT owns ME and not the other way around. It's ALWAYS in the back of my mind.
As I can scarcely believe I'm fortunate enough to have it. I could care less what they cost, as the way it makes me feel is priceless.
Plus the best part is it reminds me of the wonderful people that built it and the gang of friends I've made in this forum. Only makes it all the more special.
My heartfelt thanks to all of you, and everyone in Santa Rosa. Where would I be without the (BAD)Paul, Bob, Dave, and Susan, Val, Mica, Mary, and everyone in Santa Rosa? Not often in this cold old world you can get adopted into a great family!
I know I'm gushing . . .
