It's funny how threads turn to topics other than what they were originally intended. I made a post about my experiences during bike week in Laconia, NH  and then responded to a question about the venue. All of a sudden this becomes a biker thread. Personally, I love it. I have not owned a bike for years although I do plan to buy one next summer. Last night I watched a program about the history of the Hell's Angels. I have played at many motorcycle related events and have always been treated with the utmost respect regardless of whether Hell's Angels members were involved or not. There is a reason why the greatest bands of all time play motorcycle related rallies such as Laconia, Myrtle Baech, Daytona and Sturgis. In general, bikers are cool people who just want to have a good time.  I have been fortunate enough to play them all. Here's to great music, great bikes and great people.

I remember an evening news micro-interview of Billy Gibbons, when ZZ Top was playing at a biker affair.  The bubble-headed bleached blonde (to use Don Henley's phrase) asked Billy, Why are you so fascinated with these Harleys?  Billy said, They're big; they're fast; they're loud---I rest my case.

I live about 80 miles from Daytona and only made it to Bike Week once.  And that was accidently.  I just happened to be driving through.  I've known a lot of people either attending or playing these events and they all have a great time.  There's another in Leesburg Florida that I've heard is a good rally.  Senior management so far hasn't squawked much about GAS but isn't budging on the motorcycle issue.

George, Billy left out one adjective ... ridiculously expensive.  (ducking now from the Harley guys)

ROOTS, starring Levar Burton whom was also in STar Trek NG. I bet the Enterprise could get that pizza here fast, might be too loud for my neighorhood though!

O.K.  That opens up Tribbles and Dilithium crystals!  And while we're on the subject of Star Trek, last weekend I bought a portable GPS (Nuvi 350 - GREAT unit), you know one of those little boxes that hooks up to a bunch of satellites and gives you directions.  This one actually talks to you.  You can set it for several different voices, male or female, American English, British English, Australian English, or a bunch of other languages.

I was thinking it would be really cool if these things came with the choice of Majel Barrett (computer voice in ALL Star Trek episodes and movies) and Hal 2000 from 2001.  Of course you'd have to be careful with the Hal 2000 voice: take a right here, Dave and it sends you off a cliff!  LOL

Bill, tgo

Personally, I'd vote for none of the above.
