Wood finishes are amazing, but since the colored basses are few in number (but exceedingly beautiful in finish), why not post pictures of the colors here for all to view?  I'll start with my Ruby Red Spoiler.  (I think I've seen a purple and also a green one, too).

Brown Mark, former bassplayer for Prince, has a really cool white Alembic spoiler with flower motives airbrushed onto it, a really classy looking axe.

He's seen playing it in this clip of Prince performing I wanna be your lover live at the 1986 Parade tour.

I have always preferred Alembic?s in natural finish but I have to admit this months COTM is one of the most beautiful instruments that I?ve ever seen.

Since I've been pondering Essences, here's one of my faves...

Now this I could REALLY go for. How much is it for an Oceanburst finish BTW? And if that's a quilt top, what grade is it? It actually looks like a quilt/flame cross...in fact, just out of interest, what would the going rate be on an Essence with the above spec?

If you use the quote generator for the Essence model and select the burst finish and update the quote the cost is $400 for the finish. I would think with that number you'd be in the ballpark! It was $6600 total if you used spalted maple top also. Try it ou yourself with the different options and see what you like.

Shaun,

If you're looking at an Essence, I would HIGHLY recommend equiping it with Europa electronics. The added versatility of the Bass/Treble boost-cut and Q-switch will do wonders for it.
