These are beautifully crafted pieces of art that make glorious sounds.
Me and my bass have seen good and bad times, tender and tough times, there are nicks and dings from years of intimate use (and yes some belt buckle rash). It gives it personality. And dang if it doesn’t still sound great!
I would try WD40. If it does get scratched Flitz or Mother’s are nice polishing compounds (even toothpaste will work).
