Who has experience with this Quicklok multiple guitar stand ?
I am currently using these Warwick Rockstands.
They are ok for my EVH signatures,
but my omega standard body shaped 6 string touches the floor with her omega tips.
I have a feeling that the quicklok stand is elevated a little bit higher?
Anyone using those? Does it fit for a full body shape with omega cut?

It would also be handy if I could leave the stereo cable in the bass, when I put her on the stand.
That is not possible with all guitar stands.

Jan, a note of caution if I may, though I'm sure you've already thought of this. I would think leaving the cable in the bass on the stand increases the chance of an accident involving your bass. Especially on stage where others are rushing around with things on their minds other than your bass and that cable on the floor. There was a bass on Ebay some time ago that looked great except for the repair around the jack; and I can imagine what caused that repair. Someone could step on the cable causing it to violently pull at the jack; or someone could trip on the cable and pull the bass to the floor. I'm sure you've thought of this but I just thought I would express my concern. Of course I may just be overly cautious.

Dave, you are completely right. I only let the cable in the bass at home, where it is 100% safe. So, those kinds of accidents will never happen at home. Me and my partner know how to move in the musical area at home ;-)

On stage is a different thing. If we play in small clubs, and my basses are put away in a small corner right next to the amps, so I can lead the cables after the amps, I let the cable plugged in. But you are absolute right, on stages where it is a complete mess, the cable + the bass go away until a second before the show. You can be sure, the very first thing I do before speaking to anyone after the show, is putting my basses in their case. But I appreciate that you mentioned it again, one cannot be cautious enough with that kind of instruments.

So, back on topic: any experiences with the Quicklok or other similar stands?

And what is the maximum width of the neck that fits in there ?

Jan,

It's called an Ultra Stand and it's provided by Kaman Music Corp. The narrowest part of the neck hook is 2 1/2 inches. I think I paid about $40 or $50 for it at Motor City Guitars in Waterford, MI.

2,5 inch (or 6,35 cm) should be fine for the 6 string. I'll have a look around how to get this in Europe. Thanks James.

Jan,

Yeah, that's my Hanewinckel fretted 6 string. It's the same width at the nut as the Alembic 5 string point body. The bottom of the Alembic crown headstock is what actually rests in the neck hook. It fits in very well and should also for a 6 string. Can't imagine your headstock is much wider than mine at the base.

I went to kamanmusic.com, but for some reason I can't find the stand at their website.

Well, to be exact, the nut of my 6 string is 5,8 cm (2,28). This is a comfort spacing.
The nut of my 5 string (normal spacing) is 5,2 cm 2,04).
I'll have a look on the net later. It's diner time here right now ;-)

Hey Brother Jan,

wouldn't it be great to have guitar hangers that you can flick out of your rig.Imagine Tweak Peaks with two kind of deplyable hangers on each side. When you tranport you click it f.i. on top of your rig so it does'nt disturb by driving the amp around. When you set it up you flick the holders like wings to left and right and you can hang your axes on it.
Com'on ...you're the kandy-man over here ...how can we fix this???

I guess that this is the stand that James uses. I'll still have to find it in Europe.

Paul, I have some wall hangers at home, but for some reason I have never been keen on hanging my basses on the wall. The idea of finding them in peaces scares me ... So hangers on my rack ? ....mmmhh to dangerous for me.

When I saw Gordon Johnson (Jimmy's brother) playing with Maynard Ferguson he had a stand that clamped to the top of his speaker cabinet, which was tall enough to hold his bass.

It was a cool setup. He would travel with his bass, Walter Woods amp, essential cords, strap, and stand all in a Haliburton bass case. Speaker cabs were provided by the venue. He could carry one item to the stage and have everything he needed for the gig.

Paul; it's been done. Dave LaRue, the exceptionally talented bassplayer with the Steve Morse Band has a huge equipment rack. At the top of the rack are two hangers. I don't know whether they retract into the rack or whether they are attached at setup. Here are two pics. Unfortunately I couldn't find any with basses hanging from the hangers but when I've seen them live there are usually a couple. In the first pic you can clearly see the two hangers sticking up. In the second you can see the left hanger as it is attached to the rack.

Mmmm ...Dave Larue ...He got a column in bass-player and played with Ted Nugent too I think.
