First bass going to Chicago Music Exchange
« on: November 30, 2016, 03:27:36 PM »
A few months ago, Chicago Music Exchange signed up as an Alembic dealer. We're so happy to have such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable dealer in Chicago! The pieces in their opening order are starting to ship out this week, and the first one is the amazing Buckeye Burl Mark King Deluxe with a Purpleheart fingerboard. Marc Najjar is the resident Alembic specialist, and so call him up at 888-686-7872 if you are interested in this medium scale beauty.

Have bought a couple things from CME through Reverb. Good folks to deal with.

That Buckeye Burl Siggy sure is a nice way to start off.  :D

Nice color contrast with the fingerboard... is that purpleheart?

Both Reverb and CME are owned by David Kalt according to this clip from a Chicago business magazine. I guess we will be seeing more Alembics on Reverb>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Serial entrepreneurs are critical to a thriving tech ecosystem, and Reverb CEO David Kalt is proof of how the city's startup community is gaining steam.

Just don't call Kalt's business a startup to his face.

Reverb, an online marketplace for buying and selling music gear, was founded by Kalt in 2013 and recently moved into a new office in Lakeview. Kalt, who also owns the Chicago Music Exchange, developed the business to give musicians a better platform for finding and selling equipment.

Saw that on the CME Instagram page this AM - they seemed pretty stoked! It's a beauty!

Nice. I'll have to pay a visit!

As a side note, I've really been enjoying using reverb.com. They charge way less than ebay (3.5% vs what, 10?).

Mica, are they receiving anything in a 32'' scale by chance? Been wanting to check that out. Been decades since I played a Spoiler...

This bass is a 32" scale. The others they are getting are short and long, so they will have something for everyone... guitars too!

One of my favorite places to hang out & wish I had coin!  Now I have another reason to get down there.

I've been to CME twice.  Looks like I need to start planning trips 3 thru 10.

Here's the Rogue that landed there yesterday. Curly Redwood top and Walnut body! The tailpiece is the special edition smooth "capsule" version of the bar. Enjoy!

You also need to see this tailpiece in detail. So sweet!

Pretty bass... I like the walnut core too. Wonder what it sounds like?  (*say, compared to a standard mahogany core)

My guess it will have a more even woody tone where the highs aren't as bright and the bottom end is more rounded.

That is exactly how it should be . . .  those smooth radii's make you want to touch and trace it with your finger tip.  Beauty 'ey!
