The Redwood bass has a really interesting complex tone. It does have a deep, throaty tone from the Redwood. But that Walnut body (and that's a LOT of Walnut) makes for a super snappy attack, like FAST! Glad you like the tailpiece, Paul.

Walnut body is a nice option, and looks very nice on this bass; along with that top of course.

So I stopped in last Thursday with my daughter to have a look around. The place is like a museum! Walked downstairs and there in the center of everything were 5 Alembics on display - (2) Stanley's, the King and Rogue above, and a 5 string Essence (Boy, those have come a long way since the first ones I used to see at Guitar Center. Really nice.) Funny, I had mentioned earlier in this thread that I wanted to check out a 32'' scale, but I was so enthralled with the gloss finished SC, I totally forgot! Super cool bass. After playing it for a while, I said to my kid "you wanna see something cool?" So I flipped the LED switch on and she was like "WHAT?!?!"  :D This was my first real experience with dual filters (I play a Distillate), and I'd need to spend more time by myself dialing it in, but I pretty easily got a good tone going before I even realized the amp settings were all zeroed out. Dialed that in a little bit, and BOOM! The staff was cool. Here's this guy they've never seen before, in a leather biker jacket with zippers everywhere asking to play one of the most expensive basses in the store. LOL! I of course took off the jacket and put them at ease and they set me up in a little room with 3 amps. When I was done with the SC I wanted to try a couple of new Rics to see how the necks felt. They were like "You're welcome to try anything you want." Highly recommended. Now I have to schedule another visit to try the 32'' King.
