You're right- She is number 2 for me. Wife #1 used to say It'd be different if you made a living playing bass. Well, that marriage lasted 13 years. I tried and tried to make it work, but alas... So, its been almost 4 years with number 2, and I think she's a keeper! BTW, number one was a control freak that took all my toys away and didn't understand letting me have any space. Our dogs got more attention than me from her, and eventually the line was drawn.

My current wife is a rarity. Her being a musician is a big part of her understanding me. Funny, my Alembics are on guitar stands next to my side of the bed. I see them going to sleep and when I wake up. Oh yeah- I see my wife too! ;-)

Bryant and Keavin,

The five year comment from my wife wasn't that she doesn't understand...she even helped pick out the top with me (which upped the price for the bass considerably, BTW) it's just with 3 kids, mortgage, etc. there's that reality thing to deal with, and she's always been better about things like that than me. She's #2 for me also (wives, that is) and she's definately my life partner.

Ken - My wife sounds a lot like yours.  When I was picking out features, she said get exactly what you want.  She believes that if it is something you want, there should be no compromise.  She says You only live once!.  And she is right.  But....reality.  Mortgage, tuition, doctor bills (and I have a lot) and it seems that the basses are no longer on the priority list that they once were.  In fact, I will be parting with a few pretty soon.  I got one in the For Sale section now.

But my wife is the best, and definately my soul mate too.  I would be lost without her.

It must be fantastic to have a soul mate as partner/wife. Marriage has a lot to do with lotery and ...weel ...you know how those things statistically works to the winning lot.
