If you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day.  If you teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat all day and drink beer.

After I moved to Tennessee, I rarely go fishing with friends 'up here'.  When pressed I tell them that after living on the Gulf Coast the rest of my life, fresh water is just a bit dull after salt water / ocean fishing.  While I could certainly tear up a hand getting 'whiskered' by a catfish, I have to admit to them it's just a lot more exciting when half the things you may hook could EAT you !

J o e y,

That's exactly why I don't fish here either.  Right on.

..and I though it was Bill, the *good* one!

Hey Jeff, hope the surgery went well for you and a speedy recovery.  I know it will suck not to play for a bit, but follow the doc's orders.  You got too many  years of playing left in you to rush it and risk complications.

THANKS
Turned out the dr declined to stitch it up due to the fact that marine cuts are natural homes to goims
so he wants to let it breath and heal on its own rather than close it and possibly get infected.
they put me on cipro which will come in handy in case there is an anthrax attack,
so i got one sore finger and will fall back on being the anchor and less leads on me bass

Hey Flax, just in case you don't know about it/haven't hear about it... there's this REALLY GREAT stuff called colloidal silver you can get from most any decent health food store.

It's really good with various bacterialogical/viral issues... it kills over 650 kinds of known microorganisms... kind of like putting salt on slugs.  It's actually something medical doctors used before anti-biotics... although it's actually better in some ways.  I know from personal experience that it works; it can work wonders.

Maybe you already know about it... or maybe not.

If you DON'T know about it... ask around.  Google it.  In any case, I'd recommend getting some and using it.  There's no downside, and proven medical benefits.

Happy trails & best wishes!!!

Lamely and colorfully yours Mark

i know this may sound weird,,, i did play friday night, the only way i could use my forefinger was to attack at 90 degrees or it hurt like hell, so i didnt use it much
wolf must have sensed something was wrong,
while tuning up to start the evening my b string broke. and yes i forgot to put an emerg set in the case i had him in
so- it was one digit short for the both of us.
3 fingers for me and 4 strings for him
so not only did i have to refigure my fingering i had to refigure my positioning,

Hey Flax, I'm really sorry, I somehow missed -when I read the previous threads- that fact that you were going to have to have surgery!!!  Big thing to miss!  Anyway, I'm really sorry, 'cause the joke was just to make you laugh, and I wouldn't have made it if I'd noticed the surgery reference.  I feel like a BIG JERK.  Now I understand why you were pissed at me instead of laughing.

I wish you well, and hope your finger recovers quickly.  I had an unpleasant and scarey incident several years ago when my forefinger of my fretting hand was sliced open by a greasy chainring of my bike during a tire repair... it was bleeding like crazy, and EXTREMELY upsetting... I was really freaked out.  Fortunately, as was the case with you, there was no nerve damage.  I've still got a big scar on it... but it plays fine.

Again, my apologies, I feel like a serious ass.  And I wish you a speedy recovery.

Take care, Mark.

PS: sent you a private email apology... but -as is distressingly frequently the case with the crappy internet service that is Cox.net- it took FOREVER to open up my email (over a half hour) and then I had problems sending it.  The computer sez it's sent... but I may (try to) send it again later... just in case... so I apologize in advance if you get a redundant email from me.

Sincerely, Mark -the 8-stringed ass.
