Hal's Dream Rig!
« on: November 20, 2009, 09:04:43 PM »
Oh, my goodness gracious, the 5 spirits of the Toma_Hawk is spreading the love and it comes back two fold!

I just purchased a NEW MESA BOOGIE BASIS M-2000 AMP!

It came with the following:

Mesa Boogie foot Switch for the AMP;
Mesa Boogie Road Case; (perfect condition) with front and back side covers; Furman PL-PLUS Power Conditioner; (also Unused - like new condition)  Original Tags; Instruction Manual; and a Mesa Boogie removable cover for the 4 X 10 Cabinet

ALL BRAND NEW Condition!!!!

AND without question, I am running it all from an Alembic F-2B, F-1X and DS-5R.

This is my ultimate Rig!

First of all, I had been looking high and low for a Mesa Boogie Basis 2000 since 2005. I read so much about the versatility I just couldn't stand it. But there was a Cool Cat member named Ara who list this rig here on Alembic.com For Sale & Trade section.

I traveled down to San Francisco to check this baby out. Well, when I got there, it was shining and in immaculate condition, absolutely brand new in every way.

Spent some time with Ara and his wife to be, and enjoyed the day.

When I got it home, I wasted absolutely no time to let the beast meet Shorty. After assembling my Alembic pre-amps to connect to the Meas Boogie, and hit the switch, THAT WAS MONEY!

I thumped the E string, and I could tell (just from that one thump) I was not going to be putting down my Alembic for a few hours. In fact, not only did I play over 4 hours, I also found sounds I never in my life heard from an Amp. In other words, the sound was so crystal clear, it scared me, I was startled as if I know something. It was a Ah-Haa moment. It was wonderfully addicting playing through this rig. Clean pops, and totally uncut power - pure sound. I was also amazed of it's quiet disposition upon cranking the volume. Yeah, this is as good as it gets form me. This is my rig, I am done.

I am just missing one thing to make this venture complete...

I'll show you next time.

Nice rig  Hal, Congratulations !   I have a Mesa 4 /10 Road Ready
cabinet with 4/10 EV's. I really like it. Does the cabinet that you purchased from our friend Ara have Ev's ( Electrovoice speakers) ? I am always amazed at how well it has worked for me even in Mid   Sized gigs.
It is nice when one can purchase really well maintained gear like this locally. I am going to be looking for a locally available F-2B preamp soon  .

I'm also a lover of Mesa boogie stuff,( Not that i've tried much else to be honest),  My rig consisting of 4x10, 1x15 and 2x10 powerhouse cabs are mere toys when compared to Fc_Spoilers Mesa Rig.

I have a walkabout head for small gigs and a QSC, F1-x and SF-2 for medium plus gigs.

I got my 4x10 off a guy on Ebay who only had it for about 6 weeks so it still had the store tags on it. He sold it because it didn't match the Mesa Diesel Cabs he already had. So when he found a deisel 4x10, this one had to go. I got it for a snip of the retail price.
I'm happy.
Enjoy the mesa and Alembic sound Hal they work great together.
I'm looking forward to the time when I can take the whole rig to a gig.

I was considering Mesa Boogie Titan, if couldn't find the M-2000.

Just the few days before I acquired the amp, Ara was telling me over the phone, there was a guy ready with the money. Ara, being a honest guy, held it for me because I called on it first. However, I did tell Ara, I wouldn't be disappointed if he needed the money before I got to San Francisco. The way I see it: I don't want anything, that is not made for me from the cosmos... In other words, I don't have to fight for what is already written for my destiny, so why trip on material stuff... it sure in the heck will not be traveling with me to my grave.

However, Ara wanted me to have his rig. It was like a gift. I read it in his eye. From his eyes, I felt a deep understanding as if he was saying, Hal - I know you're the right person for this rig... I looked at him square in the face, and I understood...

Man, I was so full of emotions of joy.

As I drove off with the rig in my mini van, I was in tears because I knew, it was a moment of time, and event I will never forget for the rest of my life.

Moments in time are rare these days. Too many of us are too busy trying to take care of everyone and ourselves to just stop and think, how wonderful it is to breath air.

Thanks for the kind words everybody. Like I said, I Love Alembic.com and it's management. If this site was not available, I would be lost as a lamb surrounded by a pack of hidden wolfs in the mist.

GOD BLESS ALEMBIC!

Alembics and Mesa Boogies are the very best for me, and I consider my taste sometimes, too high for my own damn-good. But, that's the best I could offer to myself, and I hope people could dig-it.

Once Mesa Boogie discontinued the M-2000 amp, I said to myself: WHAT! I-BE-GOT-DAM They don't make them anymore!!! YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING RIGHT?
DON'T TELL ME THIS!!!!

Oh, this truth was pretty heavy on me.

So, I knew acquiring a Mesa Boogie M-2000 would be as hard as finding an Alembic Series I Shorty. Speakers and cabinets were always readily available, but my secret desired amp would not be as easy.

So, when the opportunity came, I didn't want to be dis-appointed twice, so I just gave it to the cosmos to decide if it would be for me.

I remember looking for a PlayStation 3 Game console which was backwards compatible to play my PS2 games. Because of cost, the company decided to move away from making backward compatible PS3's. But for me, that was a more valuable game system, which means, I don't need two consoles taking up space.

Anyway, I had a backwards console reserved for me at the store.  As soon as I got to the store to receive the game, another person asked about the same game configurations and stated that his girl friend called it in months, before me...

Ok, now I am at this store trying to justify what words I would say to win the game in my favor, and the second buyer had no proof as I did. But, something entered my heart that made me feel even better. I asked the store clerk to give the guy the game. I didn't want this type of memory of owning something in this way. The deal was just poisonous to my Psyche. So, after I said I didn't want it, I seen the buyers face so happy, and relieved of his his stress. It was great see him happy in this way, and I didn't even know the guy.

In the end, the very next day I got a phone call from the store, to come pickup my desired console.

This is the kind of memory I love to hold and share, and my Karma stays clean!!!

Peace and Love!

Kirk out, with this groove...

Hal,

Congrats on the Mesa- I've long admired those amps and heard great things about them.  When I saw the posting in the For Sale Section, I was certainly interested, but short on money because of my recent acquisition of the Series II Six.

You're probably jonesing for the Toma-Hawk, that much more, now, LOL!

Hopefully you'll be able to make the Cincinnati Gathering and bring all 3 along (Shorty, Toma-Hawk, and the Mesa).

Peace;)
