New Band for the Flax
« on: May 11, 2008, 10:53:17 PM »
i passed the audition with these folks. Really nice guys. No dead for now, but 2 of them like them so maybe one day. Considering the nonsense i put up with the other band, this should be fun. lots of classic tunes, beatles, stones and a potpourri. They asked me out of the gate if i wanted to sing. but for now i need to concentrate on learning like 25 tunes. got gigs lined up and i was also asked if there are tunes i would like to do. such a relief to be treated like an equal
check them out-

well done flax..it comes to all those who wait and eventually that other band will realise their loss but that is their hard luck and they should have thought about it sooner.
I am sure you will soon learn those 25 tunes with no bother

Sounds like a great opportunity.  They have some chops and a good sense of the genre (sounds a lot like my band's taste).  Hope this takes off for you.  BTW, an easy Dead tune to start the uninitiated off with is Bertha.

In the interest of fairness, I must point out that it was Linda, not Yoko, who put the lid on the coffin - Paul's the one who quit the band (and I also feel moved to mention that Yoko's a much better singer than Linda, too)

they never added any tune i wanted to do or play in over a year.....of course no outside tunes- unless they wanted to do one.

Send a sub! Life is too short to be in an unhappy situation. Be free, play to your heart's content and move smoothly into the next phase of life.
In the words of Paul ( happily married to Linda)   When you were young and your heart was an open book, You used to say live and let live, (you know you did) and in this ever changing world in which we live in, makes you give up and cry, Live and Let Die!

i hear ya dan

i floated another ad in craigs to get into a dead based band and got a response for a start up situation. of course after i tell the current band i wont be available for their gig they might just answer it.
i am just figuring how to position my not being available. already booked or alright i quit....
should i hold off a while i get acclimated to the new band? right now the plan is to rehearse next friday and if it goes well i play out the next night. these guys dropped off their cd of tunes the following morning and were very complimentary of my style.  i was nice to get a compliment....
