Just wishing everyone on the east coast a safe and content next couple of days...

We had our first tidal surge a few hours ago. I'll try to get some pictures up, very surreal.

Best wishes to everyone out there.
Hold on tight!

My son lives in Perryville, MD - he has gone over to his sisters house in North East, MD to some what higher ground. His house in Perryville is a stones throw from Chesapeake Bay.

i was lucky- i moved from norwalk ct yesterday. the movers called sunday night to ask if they could come early monday- i said of course
so i get in my car to start driving to beacon falls- i have my ipod on shuffle. the VERY first song that comes up is bird song- so? remember the verse- i'll show you--STORM AND RAIN- no coincindences
they finished unloading just as they banned truck traffic off the highways.
good news? never lost power-am on the third floor!
bad news- norwalk went dark- i know the area down by the sound must have gotten pummeled.

No coincidence at all.  The lyrics are snow & rain.  Now if it had played Looks Like Rain ....!  hehehehe.  Glad to know you are o.k.

I'm still stuck in California because of the storm. They moved my group to San Mateo from SF, not really happy about that but I'd rather be here than home in CT.

I never lost power at my house, so lucky, considering people just a stones throw from me lost their homes. There's still probably a dozen spots in town that have trees or limbs on primary lines. We're putting together lights & generators so we can go out w/ CL&P tonight..... It was nerve-racking going out last night to clear roads during high tide, and today was almost impossible to do cleanup because all the idiots flocked down here to check out the carnage....

Supposed to be without power here in Manhattan until the weekend. But I have power at my studio, so I guess I'll just have to hole up and play bass for the next few days.

Thanks Dave. It's frustrating when you consider that so many people on the shoreline and the entire northeast for that matter, just got their homes back in order after hurricane Irene last year... I don't know what the tally is yet, but our building inspector and fire marshal have to make some tough decisions.

My brother in law is a paramedic on Long Island and he hasn't been home in two days. We talked to him for a bit tonight. FEMA kept him from answering some calls, including one to evacuate a nursing home.  Then the dispatcher asked him if he had a gun! Yikes. He was also one of the first people onsite at 9/11. Crazy life.

my first access to internet since we lost power monday around 6pm. about 8 large trees down on my property (half from neighbors, and half tangled in power lines - all but one across my long driveway). luckily our landscaper rushed over w/ 4 guys and chainsaws and cleared a path in our driveway. can't imagine getting power for at least 2wks (power lines down in 3 spots in my driveway alone). wife and kids packing up and heading to warmer/friends house while i sit at my first day back at work (she's not happy). everybody is healthy... and music equipment is safe. gig saturday wil be rough with no practice time.

Hopefully Danno, Kilowatt, Barry, Todd Harris, and all the other club members close to the storm's center will check in safe. Power and Internet aside, cellular service has been compromised in a lot of areas as well.
