Wow, you guys are great. I had no idea this board was so active.
We are getting ready to leave for Christmas break on Wednesday and the deadlines are deep so, I hope a video will suffice until I get back from vacation.
This video was shot 7 years ago when I first got the bass. Their are 3 Alembics in the video. Mike, the guy featured in the video owned or sold all 3 basses at one time. He sold me the 86 Distillate, flamed koa, in 86. I sold it in 99 when I bought his 89 Series II 5 string.
What the video doesn't show is the typical dings that come over 17 years of use. Like I said, I don't have time to take pictures and upload them before I leave for Christmas. There are probably about a dozen nics. Most are minor. The bigger ones are about the diameter of a BB or smaller. The ones that come to mind are one on the back of the neck, on the back of the body, a couple on the side, the mahogony core, below the knobs, one on the tail piece and the worst one is where the head comes to a point. That one looks like it is down to the wood. The others don't go that deep.
I know you really need to see detailed pictures of what I have described, but until then, here's the video.
http://tulsaweddingvideos.com/video/AlembicWeekend.wmv At this point I am considering selling because I don't play it any more. I gave up my last standing weekly gig in October. I don't have to sell it, but I would like to know how much I could expect to get if I do decide to sell. I know that a new one decked out like mine would be around $18,000. But that is brand new and mine is 17 years old.
Thanks for your help and patience until I can get some pictures uploaded.
