Edit: the seller is called Philippe and I think he's based in France. He has put a FS price of Euro 5,600 (although he has a bunch of trade options listed too)

Gosh that's a beauty. I presume it's tuned low E and high C.

fair I would call about $4-4.5K in the US. The same instrument in a four would probably be $3.5-4.5K.
 
As a five, it's a rare item, so could be held significantly more dear. There's also whatever premium would apply to it locating in Europe rather than the US.
 
If I were in Europe and in the market I'd want to pay 4K Euros or less. If I had the money and really wanted it, I'd pay more. You might not see another like this for a year or two, and that's how the cost can increase. I've seen a few short fives in the US, but this is the first I recall in a deluxe model.
 
Oh, and it says B/E/A/D/G right in the ad. I'd like a short or medium five to tune EADGC, but I don't have the spare change for something like this right now.

Nice looking bass ! I like a EADGC tuning , I used that before  when  I had a 5.

I could never buy one with the strap button right in the 'adam's apple' of the heel like that.  I realize you have quite a problem getting this shape to balance in a strap, but that is in the wrong place for me.

That's where they are, Joey. Not much choice as there really is no upper horn.  
 
As far as EADGC vs BEADG goes, I think it's about context. When I was playing in a group with two guitars and a flute/sax/harmonica player, the middle and upper registers were pretty full. BEADG fit in very well. Heck, BEAD on a four would have fit well. Playing now with one guitar and a drummer, EADGC would make it easier to fill in chordally (is that a word?) during leads.

That deluxe definitely looks sweet! I saved the pics, which I don't often do. I have no problems with balance with mine, I use one of the wide Alembic straps.

B string when it was strung that way?

Hey jazzyvee, I hate to say it, but I bought it with the intention of converting to EADGC, so I didn't really mess with the low B too much (I don't have much experience with low B's anyway). The original owner wasn't too happy with it (the low B) though, according to the build thread. I wonder if he tried a fresh set of strings?

I am considering going fot this bass. I do have some concerns. I bouught a spolier exploiter 4 from hieronymous and wasn't comfortable with the feel due no horn.  
(Also I just prefer playing 5 string so I sold it. Wish I hadn't)   Would this bass have a simliar feel?
 
I have been looking to add another 5 string to my rouge 34 scale and am also not sure bout a 32 scale. I really like this bass and i think the bug has bit!    
I checked and it was still listed.  I sent e mail...since this may be an out os US transaction I will appreciate any help and comments.

This is actually short scale - 30.75 - that's one of the issues, is whether the low B string will be acceptable.  
 
So the Exploiter has moved on? That's too bad it didn't agree with you. The small standard body size like this one is pretty different than the Exploiter - I find that it feels more like a regular Fender-style long scale. I have a long-scale Alembic and it's a stretch to the lower frets, but my Stanley is just about right. Of course, these are just my impressions, I switch between a bunch of different basses, both long and short scale. Actually it might feel more like a Gibson EB-0/EB-3 than a Fender.
 
Realize also that some people have issues with neck dive, though I haven't found it to be a problem with mine - but read the build thread I linked to above - the original owner did have problems, so of course YMMV!

If tuned BEADG, I thought a 5 string bass really had to be minimum 34 scale.  Just like a piano has the longest strings on the low notes, the same physics are in play for a bass guitar.  So, If you are going to put a low B on a 32 scale, wouldn't you have to increase the gauge from .135 to, say,  .145 to compensate?  Going to a 30.75 neck would increase this component even more.  While I think the bass is exceptional, and it is in my dreams such a bass could exist, I'd be concerned that the instrument would only work well strung EADGC.

It has moved on but I still wish I hadn't sold it jsut because they also are kinda hard to find. Sold it to a guy that was giving to his son for grasduation so I believe its in a good home! Would like to have it just for collection!
 
Hum...dshade43....I am now kinda concerned about the low B on a 30.75 scale since thats the main reason I want a 5. I actualy love a low B and use it many tunes... I was not aware of any possible tuning issues.. I will start another thread bout this issue,

hopefully danno will chyme in here because as we all know, he has a lot of custom basses that include many 32 scale Spoilers with 5+ strings and as i recall him saying, he has no issue with low B's or anything
