That was very nice.  I've watched Movements 1 & 3 now; need to listen to Movement 2 next.

It's upthread somewhere Dave... I appreciated the complexity, but didn't enjoy it quite as much as 1 and 3. I probably need to give it another spin to see how it plays after hearing all three.

Jack's bass really drives!

Something from PERRO that I'd never come across before!

For those talking gig-mobiles over there:  Wanna try to tote this sucker?

Just hope I don't ever have to fix one... 🤫

If memory serves, there are just a handful of these in the world. Unsurprisingly they are meant to be stationary. I would love to play one though.

No octobass here, just an old blonde Kay. Appalachian Roadshow puttin' on a stomp in A, at HoustonFest in Galax Virginia a while back.

Nova Constellatio

That's the first time I've actually heard an octobass — it sounds great, but you've got to wonder what Vuillaume was smoking when he came up with the idea for one.

cozmik_cowboy

I wanna hear a duet with an octobass & a subcontrabass saxophone.......

Hector Berlioz wrote some for octobass back in the day.

Here is one played in context. Montreal, 2016. Listen on something substantial.

*the Wizard of Google says there are 7 octobasses in the world. Two of the three original Vuillaume builds survive.

And with a tuba...

(this sounded really cool in my car)

Saw Folk Bitch Trio open for The Beth's last night, and I was suitably impressed.

I've subscribed to Lindsey Buckingham's YouTube channel since the lockdowns. Lately he's been posting little tutorials on guitar. That, and his kids Will and Leelee have been joining him in the studio to respond to this or that, which can be entertaining too.

The teaser came out Friday in a Short: https://youtube.com/shorts/_2FoqNviGHo?si=BZZDLSUC9kzlAWym

A popular American fiddle tune I'm working out for mandolin, "Sugar in the Gourd". Could be my contest piece for this year.

I know these two folks well. Andrew is a trained bassist, who plays a number of instruments, and his accompanist on rhythm guitar there is one of Ward's rather gifted shop apprentices.
