Hi there,
If I sell my fretless, I will have my DS5R available for trade.
I'm selling the Orion, because I want to go fully digital (Fractal) In that setup I would only have a pedalboard and two powered monitors, so the box DS5 would be more practical for me.
It's currently modified with two additional 1/4 inputs and mono out only. I haven't been in there for a while, but I'm pretty sure I can get it back to original specs easily (even without touching any original signal path solder joints IIrc)
It does have two additional holes in the back, those can be plugged with those 1/4 jack plastic fillers.
It's unique, because I touched a wrong part with the green LED and it blew out. So it has a red Led now since I didn't have green LEDs, that could be replaced easily.
Located in Holland.
Grtz,
Flip
Where is the listing for your fretless?
I have it listed on a Dutch trade site, would prefer to have it picked up or delivered by myself: https://link.marktplaats.nl/m2396671880
Description translation:
1999 Alembic Orion Fretless.
This bass has had an electronics upgrade (visible in the first photo). It now features the EMW set, Volume, Pan, Filter + Q switch, Bass, and Treble.
I did the upgrade myself using instructions and parts from Alembic.
So now with a filter and Q switch, bringing it closer to the classic (more expensive) Alembics. Bass and Treble controls are great for fretless, especially if you want some low end and the lovely "Mwhaa" from the bridge pickup. Low B is ultimate; you can feel it vibrating through the entire bass.
Set neck, as far as I'm concerned, the ultimate fretless Alembic. I've had a neck-through fretless Alembic, but the set neck is the absolute winner.
Selling because I haven't used it in years; it's a real shame for such a beast.
Some signs of wear, quite normal for a bass approaching 30 years. Includes case.
Some photos were pre-modification?

Just from personal experience, East-Meets-West electronics are what I consider optimal for a fretless Alembic. That is a LOT of adjustability in one package, while still being user-friendly.

The outdoor pictures are from a couple of years ago, the pictures of the fretboard, dings and case are from last week.
The first picture (showing the EMW mod) is from about a year ago, that was for the thumbnail of this vid (hence the 4 strings)
Edit: just checked the showcase, outdoor pictures are from 2014: https://club.alembicguitars.com/orion-basses-and-guitars/99-orion-5-fretless/
