Title: Scam Tribute listing on Tallahassee Craigslist
Post by: darkstar on April 19, 2026, 09:34:31 PM
Came across this Tribute ad on Tallahassee Craigslist:

https://tallahassee.craigslist.org/msg/d/tallahassee-alembic-jerry-garcia/7924116700.html

Listed for $7000. Included in the ad is a pic of the Alembic certificate which shows the exact same serial number of another Tribute currently for sale for $19,950 by a reputable dealer in Evergreen, CO with over 600 5 star reviews
here:

https://reverb.com/item/93949611-alembic-jerry-garcia-tribute-6-string-guitar-cocobolo-leds-2009

And here is the original already-sold-reverb-ad the Craigslist scammer took the pics and description from sold for $8950 5 months ago here:

https://reverb.com/item/93151666-alembic-jerry-garcia-tribute-coco-bolo-led-fret-markers

The scammer says they are getting me more pics of the guitar "when they get home" 😂
Also, about a week ago I came across the same scam on a different Florida Craigslist page but it was for a Further. In the middle of research the ads was flagged down on Craigslist by someone else as I never flagged it. Someone is placing fake Alembic ads in Florida.

When I went to that link, Firefox asked me if I wanted it translated from Slovak to English......RED FLAG

Interesting. None of them ask me that. They appear as normal Craigslist and reverb ads to me.

Perhaps that's a unique skill that Firefox now has.  Haven't used Firefox in years.

Agreed it must be my browser. Today I learned removing auto translate can help to identify scams. Good to know. Glad I posted and appreciate the responses.
