I've imported three basses in the last year. It hasn't been terrible, apart from UPS defrauding me of customs duties that weren't due each time.
The seller has had this bass on sale on facebook for a few weeks now.

Just make sure the seller prepares a document CBP Form 3311 at a minimum. The Custom and Border Patrol department also states "For U.S. manufactured goods valued over $2,500 entered three years after the date of exportation that are not clearly marked with the name and address of the U.S. manufacturer, CBP may require, in addition to the declarations above, additional documents to substantiate the claim for duty-free treatment including a statement from the U.S. manufacturer verifying that the articles were made in the United States." So contact us for a letter stating such BEFORE you have the instrument shipped.
