Another one in that run of 1977's with headstock faces of koa with a dark landscape stripe through it.

This is 77-805. I've also seen this feature in at least four more instruments grouped around it up to 77-810. Just something I noticed... I've always wondered if it means anything beyond those veneers were conveniently at-hand when that sequence was being built? Random, but chosen for effect.
This one without a power supply or cable. Other than that it is quite the looker. Seems like there was a grouping with cocobolo headstock faces, but earlier than this, and with zebrawood. 75-254 has what I'm guessing might be oak (little to no figuring, but a strong colour).
Definitely interesting! Love it. Since my meeting with Adriaan I am not against big bodies long scale versions anymore!

Take a look in the Showcase at 76-265. See if that's the same stuff. I always wondered. It looks like a rosewood species but not a quartered piece. Rob thought it might have been bocate.

The grain on 76-265's facing does suggest bocate, mine is this:

This shop is the UK Alembic Dealer and about 30 mins drive from my home, and is a well respected specialist bass dealer with many high end basses that are not found in regular bass shops.
