Ok Geezers. Where were YOU 57 years ago today?
Me? I was at a block party hopped up on sugar from birthday cake and ice cream! Three in the hood had birthdays on July 20th with my older brother turning 12. We would occasionally duck into the house and head to the TV to see if Neil A came down the ladder and walked on the Moon. I see NO media commenting on this today.
I was in the bardo. 🤷♂️
I don't remember. I was like three weeks old. ::)
well i was 13 at the time. i distinctly remember a hot hot july night in the mile high. out on my parent's patio watching blurry B&W images on the portable console brought out just for the occasion. the booze was flowing (for the adults). so much for the moon program. fast forward to today - where's the prune juice? i can't find the tylenol! somebody answer the freaking phone!
I do remember the family gathered in front of the tv, I remember watching and listening intently, and I remember Walter Cronkite hosted the coverage. I was 15 years old. And it was amazing.
I was 10. I remember I was glued to the TV the whole time. My older sister walked in the room while I was watching. She took one look at it and said "That's fake", and walked out of the room.
As with the esteemed Mr. Down, I was 13; and yes, we were glued to the set. Intellectually I can dismiss it as a massive waste of money & brain power now; as a Boomer male from John Glenn's hometown, I was stoked beyond belief then (and still get chills now; was at the dentist today & the pic on the "look at this while I scrape your teeth" screen was the famous "Earthrise" shot. Still blows my freakin' mind a little).

I was 16, watched it on b&w tv on the farm at Easyville. I was all-in on the space program, having built models of the Mercury and Gemini capsules to go along with my car and airplane models. That's when we had the "good glue". . .
