Does anyone know whatever happened to the "Michael's Hurricane Damaged Series I" thread from 20 years ago? Always wondered how that one turned out.
I think the salt is still leeching out of it. Mica has posted photos over the years. I did see it once on a factory tour.
I guess I need to call her about that bass. If it's a goner, I have to do something with it. I hate to see it be too far gone, but it was a mess!
Seeing those images really bummed me out — I really hope there's a chance it can be salvaged. Those early ones are unbelievably cool.
It would be great if it could be saved, at least in some iteration... reuse any of the usable, stabilized wood or headstock, at least the hardware. Just assuming the electronics are shot.
I totally went down the rabbit-hole yesterday afternoon and on into this morning trying to run down all of 73-30's close kin. Still missing 29. Big gap from 34-38. They're out there somewhere. ::)
73-30 ought to have another day in the sun. If it simply couldn't be made playable again, I'd put her in a glass trophy case.
