Title: Wall of sound tribute
Post by: jazzyvee on July 31, 2026, 04:26:19 PM

The bass looks like Phil's old bass. Original or replica?

Enjoy.👍🏾🎶

That is, in fact, The Godfather.  And it is Grahame Lesh, Phil's older son, playing it (he usually plays guitar - but then, I've only seen vids of him playing with his dad.  And one doesn't play bass when one has Phil there to do it........  So I may be wrong, and the guitar was the anomaly).

Peter (who will point out that Alex is actually playing Alligator, too)

I had a picture somewhere of the crew putting that contraption up... hanging off the scaffolding, etc... I sent it to a buddy of mine who had recently taken a gig as a Safety Director with the caption;

"Somewhere, the OSHA Manual just exploded..."

In the blurb under the vids on YT, they quote Grahame as saying that was the first time those 2 instruments had been played together onstage in 53 years.

And these kids got proper training; there are 2 series of vids (The Clubhouse Sessions & Darkstarathon) that Phil did in his last few years.  Grahame, Alex Jordan (the one with Alligator) and Elliot Peck (the one in the red dress) make frequent appearances.
