Has anyone ever rehoused an F-1X into a stand alone box? I have an F-1X from the early 1990s and I love it. I had it in a 4U rack case with a power conditioner and a Blue Light Walter Woods. It sounds incredible. It is very big and very heavy.
I am exploring the idea of rehousing the F-1X into the smallest box possible that I can run set on the amp, under the Walter Woods.
There isn't a ton of stuff inside the current case. Has anyone considered this idea?
I think it might be tricky due to the long circuit board that would somehow have to be sectioned and reconnected.
Love the Walter woods amps (they are great stand alone).
Have you ever tried just running a tube mic preamp in front of your Walter Woods?
Certainly no knock on an F-1X. Got one myself for gigs and an F-2B in the house here. Once upon a time though I had a bass that needed just a bit more output gain. I ran it through this mic-pre before anything. The results were remarkable.
