R.I.P. Sonny Rollins. One of the true greats of Jazz with a career spanning 7 decades. Just celebrated my 40th year at the University of Minnesota but that's peanuts compared to Sonny.

Thanks for posting this; I had not yet seen the news.  One of the all-time greats.  I have his biography which is a pretty amazing story.  He was one of the last ties to that time when jazz changed so profoundly.

He was amazing, to my mind particularly the live trio recordings--just Sonny, bass and drums. Incredible stuff.
