Almost impossible on my laptop using Firefox. VERY slow with Safari on my iPhone. Very Frustrating.
Same here. At times the club site won't open. But if I go to the Alembic Guitars site first, and then click on "Alembic club" under "People", the club loads slowly.

We're working on it, things should improve over the next few days.
Thanks Adriaan.
Just today there has been Epically slow load times, nothing to Seriesous, but it gives me time to Distillate my screen time from serene time.
been having trouble accessing the site for the last two weeks or so. my ISP is verizon so i figgered they were having problems. again. gotta love those guys. when ya have problems and contact their "customer service" and get past their chatbots and finally reach a human (or some facsimile thereof) the firstthing they tell ya is all the stuff they sold ya the last time ya had a problem is obsolete and the only way to solver yer issue isto upgrade to new (more expensive) stuff.
I have been having trouble as well. Most of my time appears to be spent in the TLS Handshake which frequently times out or hangs until I close my browser.
Hopefully our guy will have this sorted by early next week. We're upgrading several things and have to do a little testing before we unleash it. Thanks for holding in there!
Ahhh....Sunday morning and all is well at the Alembic Club. Thanks for the sorting out.
The Alembic Club is coming to a grinding halt again. Excessive wait times. The company site works just fine.
Yea, the last few days the club site reminds me of Dead & Co.

We are getting hit by lots of "visitors", ie. bots, etc. As I write this we have: 9660 Guests and 9 Users; and it is indeed slow right now.
It is my understanding that there are ongoing efforts behind the scenes to address this problem, and that final decisions on various options are being made before moving forward with some changes.
Lighting fast since this mornings post ! 8)
Uh oh......That was post #666 for me......adding this one to avoid bad juju.
it's been spotty off nd on for me for hte last few weeks. takes forever to load sometimes. so i'll start it itt and open another tab while it does hwatever it does.
It's been pretty slow and grumpy mornings around here (much like me!) but by afternoon it's much perkier (again, like me!).
Thanks for your efforts with this :)
Knowing the site is still in transition it hasn't bothered me when the site won't load, I just move on. Thanks to everyone working to straighten everything out!
I was able to get on the site earlier today and tried to post the same thing unsuccessfully... fingers crossed it will work this time.

I have been doing this frequently for a week or so.

Most of the issues I have had was that my browser (safari) tells me the site is insecure and asks if I want to continue. Other than that it has been probably 50/50 as to whether I can connect or not first time.
Because of my curious nature, I watch and pay attention to things. I don't always understand them fully. But when the Club is slow to load, what I began to notice is how much traffic there is. Not just casually more, exponentially more. Like, the record was shattered several times in a row. Until finally the other day we hit almost 28,000 'guests' here. Not members, guests. There aren't even 28,000 Alembics yet. I'm sorry that seems weird to me. In almost 15 years hanging around here, I've seen days where there were 200-300 hits. So 28,000...? Last time I brought it up, I got snarked for it, so I decided not to mention it again. When you start looking at what the guests are looking at, it's totally random necrothreads. (we can do that, any of us can) Now why would some rando just come here and waste time browsing 20-year old threads about things that aren't about anything remotely current... or not even related to Alembic. Well, obviously as Moderator Dave confirmed, obnoxious little netbots have infiltrated. Remember, we talk about a lotta' personal life stuff here on top of shared interests in fine guitars. So the other day when I was feeling extra-patient, I scanned through a few of the 700-some odd pages of our guests to see what they were interested in.
Go ahead, help yourselves. If you want to see what the bots are reading for entertainment. Bottom left, click "Users Online".
I'll echo what others have said; I appreciate this Club and the people who work to keep it up for us.

well i'm old and slow and have little to do all day but smoke dope, play bass and walk hte dog but i'm not
that bored. it'd be kinda like watching paint dry or reading the instructions that come with my medication. there were 10800 users online when i checked a minute age. the pages loaded so slowly i had time to open another browser tab and do a complete check the state of the world (not good, btw)
i'll blame it on all hte AI page scrapers. somewheres there's a rack of severs in a massive data center loading up on alembic goodness, i'll wager. maybe it'll become sentient and self-aware and develop an affinity for playing high-end basses all day. instead of making war on humanity. one can only hope.
cheers!
Yes. It seems like the club members are relegated to evening / late night access to the website due to bots.
Is the extra traffic a gift from the steak sauce?
A1?
😉
Hi, new member here. I noticed really long loading times of the Alembic Club and the topics on my desktop and laptop too. On my phone it's ok.
Also I have problems before hitting 'post' that the picture of the letters you have to type in to verify that you are not a robot are not fully displayed. So I have ask for a new letter picture several times before I can see all the letters. Is that normal behavior? Thanks.
The website www.alembicguitars.com is on a completely different server from alembicguitars.com - are people having trouble with the club AND the main website, or just the club? The club should be on a new upgraded server, with a new version of the forum software before the end of April, so that should speed up.
Please let me know if there are any issues with the main www.alembicguitars.com website - thank you!
The main site www.alembicguitars.com appears to be loading fine.

I would expect that you no longer get the captcha after your fifth post (which you've just passed).
I have found that when I can't get the club site to load directly, it works better if I go to the main site first, click on "people" and then "Alembic Club".
This morning, I couldn't get any of the attachments in the humor thread to load. (Though Coz' Kansas/Toto carton was well worth the wait!)

Ok great! Thanks
One more question. Is it possible to get email notifications of the topics you posted in? Can't find it in my account settings.

At the top of the page, click "Profile" > "Modify profile" > "Notifications".
Thanks! Found it.
