Polyester Satin and Gloss Finish
most instruments produced since 1980
This thick, fully sealed finish is actually made from many thin layers. The final coat can be rubbed to a soft satin sheen or buffed to a brilliant gloss.

Clean the finish with any polish specifically made for guitars, like Alembic's Supreme Polish

You may also wipe the finish with a damp soft cloth and dry with a separate dry soft cloth if it is heavily soiled.

Polyurethane Satin Natural Finish
original Epic, Orion and Rogue models
While this finish looks like an oiled finish, it is a fully sealed polyurethane clear coating. This finish protects from moisture exchange, but since it is thin, the wood is not as protected from scratching and denting as it is with the polyester finish.

Clean the finish with any polish specifically made for guitars, like Alembic's Supreme Polish. Do not oil the finish, as it will just sit on top of the paint.

You may also wipe the finish with a damp soft cloth and dry with a separate dry soft cloth if it is heavily soiled.

Oil Finishes
Brown Basses, early Series I and II guitars and basses
You shouldn't need to reoil the body, as we use a polymerized oil finish. However, you may want to wax it from time to time. We supply with a buffed wax coating of Renaissance Wax Polish The 200g tub should last you most of your life. We use a white (very fine) scotch brite to apply. You can also use a soft cloth or tissue to apply, then buff with a soft clean cloth after a few minutes.

The wax will endure the little scratches, which you can buff out when you rewax. The wood is not as protected as with a hard polyester finish, so you need to be careful of course.
