i'm not really sure if this is the right place for this, but my (currently unnamed) trio has been in the studio for the last few weeks working on our upcoming record, and i thought i'd post some music for the club. right now the only thing off the record online is a track called All of Them that you can hear on my studio's website:
http://gsinyc.com/fr_home.cfm
it's under the Music tab. there's some other stuff on there (like some random outtakes, and a jam with Eric Harland). i'm hoping to post some more stuff from the record soon, some of which actually has alembic sounds, but most of it is in post now.  the one track (All of Them), is a very rough mix. but check it out.
Thanks!

Enjoying the live feel! Why mess with that?

thanks adriaan.
we definitely don't want to negate the live improv feel...it's more like adding a few things. the tenor player likes reverb (think Albert Ayler...but maybe not that excessive), and i'm not crazy about my bass sound. the pickup i was using on these recordings is garbage... i won't name names but i really hate it. i just replaced it last week, so we might be re-recording some tunes.
thanks for listening.

so we just finished a fresh round of renovations at GSI, and i snapped this nice picture of our wall art

normally my evh would be there in place of the jazz, but it was getting some work in.

not alembic related, but we also just finished our new desk and set up which i am super excited about:

and finally actually gig related! my band Karl 2000 played in manhattan a couple weeks back and just posted most of the show on youtube. here's a link:

Really nice!. Love me some Distressors too! ;) I'm in the slow, painstakingly satisfying process of building my own studio fro the very scratch on the mainland. Hope to be able to post some pictures soon, since I am finishing the final wall and ceiling plaque next week :P

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

adam! you know it, man.
yeah this place was all tile floors and white paint with shoddy electrical work when i got it almost a year ago. everything has just been finishing up in the last couple of weeks.
i need to update the website, but for now there are some more pictures on facebook at facebook.com/gsistudios if anyone is interested.

This is brilliant! I hadn't heard this tune in decades, so I went back to check on the original to be sure and who knew that it had such deep roots in Yiddish folk music?! This is the best treatment of the Partridge Family ever!
