That rig sounded Phat jan-olof but it struggled to reproduce the upper register without sounding harsh - the Fender pre-amp is great for that James Jameson sound ;-) Next pic after this weekend will show my new Mesa Boogie Titan V12 amp instead which sounds superb over the whole range although I'm still hoping to replace the speakers with the Mesa Boogie equivalents after the summer.
Strings are DR NEONs and to be honest I'm a bit disappointed with the coating. According to the DR website these are their most robust coatings ever but the orange started to flake from the picking area after one gig. the Yellow is my fretless so it doesn't get worked as hard but the coating is still flaking from those too. The strings themselves sound great but I think I'll be going back to Black Beauties and Red Devils this summer.

Two more weddings to play this weekend. Saturday's in glasgow, Sunday's near Edinburgh. This'll be the first chance to really try out my new Mesa rig...

After this we're back into the pub circuit for a few months with the odd festival thrown in for good measure.

This Saturday we'll play our biggest gig of the year when we Headline the british motorcyclist federation summer festival in Kelso in the scottish Borders. We're expecting a couple of thousand drunk Harley riders so it should be fun.

Sunday the 15th July we'll be back in Whistlebinkies in Edinburgh and
Saturday 21st July we're at Behind the Wall in falkirk.
Both are great venues for live music and the crowds are usually very enthusiastic.

Tomorrow night (sat 21st) we'll be playing at 'Behind the Wall' in Falkirk. Sadly my Mesa Titan v12 head is still in Petaluma getting a fix but the new powerhouse cabs will get a good workout. They like it LOUD in central Scotland.

The Titan has returned! and just in time for a very busy couple of weeks for us..
Friday 17th we're playing a stag do at a local rugby club. it'll be an odd gig for us with no ladies up dancing.
Saturday 18th we play Finnegan's Wake in Edinburgh. as it's festival time they have a late licence so we'll be playing 11pm till 2am.
Wednesday 22nd we're back in Whistlebinkies playing the 10pm slot.
Saturday 25th we head up to Inverness to play at a gay 'wedding'. First song is the Blues Brothers 'Everybody needs somebody'. Quite apt.
Thursday 30th - whistlebinkies again
Saturday 8th September we have a wedding gig in Edinburgh.
The following saturday I fly to New York to start my 3 week tour of the east and west coasts. Can hardly wait :-)

Thanks Mike. The Titan stood up to to two solid gigs playing around 3 hours each night so I think I can safely say it's now sorted. I'm loving the versatility of this amp - two footswitchable channels with one set up to be mellow for most songs and the other set with more gain, mid and treble for a bit more aggression for 'punkier' numbers. Plus each channel has it's own overdrive and there's an extra 'solo' button to give as much volume boost as I need to cut through the wall of guitar noise. It's certainly the 'swiss army knife' of Bass amps.
I still take an emergency head to gigs but it's an Ashdown little giant which is very light and can be carried around in a laptop bag it's so small. The tone is nothing to write home about though.

Saturday 20th October - Finnegans Wake Edinburgh.

friday november 2nd - O'Donnels bar, Kirkcaldy.

2 weeks of weddings then

sat 24th November - Finnegans Wake

More gigs to come in December.

Friday we play at O'connels bar in Kirkcaldy 10pm till 1am. We played here a few years ago when it was called bar One and they had us at 5pm on a sunday. It's a pretty big bar and there was us plus the bar staff. No one ventured in from outside. hopefully friday night will be a bit more lively.

Followng a couple of weeks of wedding gigs we'll be back in the pubs from now till Christmas.

This saturday is Finnegan's Wake in Edinburgh from 10pm. It's a really lively bar with and Irish theme that we try not to carry into the music.

Tonight at 10pm we'll be rocking out at O'Connels bar in Kirkcaldy where we get shoved in a pokey little corner in complete contrast to last night's Status Quo gig in Glasgow. (they get a huge stage and a bunch of roadies to shift gear. Life's just not fair).

Too full this time Bill. It's a small stage so my rig has to sit off the side, right next to the corridor to the beer garden (smoking area) and we have (the 2 guitarists and myself) to stand off the front of the stage on what becomes the dancefloor. As a result, there were folk trying to leave their drinks on top of my amp, people standing in front of my rig or bumping into me and one cheeky sod even tried to use my guitar stand as a coat hanger! The last set was pretty traumatic and I had to get the bouncer to control a few of the more boisterous drunks.
Not somewhere I relish going back to but we went down really well so I suspect we'll get more bookings next year :-( First time I've not wanted to play a gig!!
