Thought I'd start a new thread for this years gigs as the last one was getting a bit unweildy.Probably should have started it in january ;-)

Anyhoo..

This friday, 3rd feb we'll be back in Whistlebinkies in Edinburgh. There are three bands on and we have the 10pm till midnight slot.

It's Big Tuna Jan-Olof :-) Hot tuna are a bit better known than us;-) Hope you enjoy the show. one of these days we'll get a professional recording made.
Wedding gig tomorrow in Largs on the west coast of Scotland - a popular spot for holidaymakers apparently.

Off course, sorry about that. I was just to excite to get the DVD!! I use to have the same kind of speakers that you have on the video. You can clearly hear the Alembic sound. Great cover band! I think that the bass player is the King in that group!

We played a 'last minute notice' gig this sunday gone (easter) at The Lounge in Bathgate. Didnt find out about it until saturday afternoon so I had to cut short my trip down to the folks. The pub wasn't that busy but the 20 or so punters seemed to enjoy themselves, no doubt fuelled by the local ales. I unveiled my newish cabinet, a used GK 210 BLX that I've upgraded with a pair of Eminence Delta 300 watt drivers (in an attempt to see how much better the proposed Mesa upgrade will be) and I have to say I was really pleased with the extra punch they gave over the Neo 212 I replaced it with. - I still used one neo 212 for the deep lows.

We're quite busy just now for a part time band...

Friday 13th April @ 9pm, Whistlebinkies Edinburgh.
Saturday 21st April @ 9pm, the Waverley Callander.
Saturday 28th April @ 9pm, Brightons Inn, Polmont
.
All in Scotland.

After that, it's back to the wedding circuit big time till July when we play a Bikers rally in Kelso.

Where you put to choose... (and sorry for the possible hijack here) between Eminence Deltas and Eminence Deltalites... would you (or anyone here) say there IS a BIG difference in sound and performance? I am thinking deep into swapping the firsts for the seconds, in a desperate attempt for stopping arriving home late at night with back pains, I am even thinking on replacing the 12 within my GK MB200 combo I use for smaller gigs...

Sorry Juan Carlos, I haven't tried the Deltalites so I can't comment on how they compare to the Deltas. I do have a Neo 410 that I've been trying to sell so I may try two of the drivers from that in the GK cabinet to see how they sound but that won't be for a while (maybe never) as a friend has borrowed that cabinet to try out and may eventually buy it. If I could find one nearby, I would like to try out the EBS NEO 210 as it would match my 212s but those cabinets are as rare as hens teeth over here. To be honest, I am having second thoughts over the Mesa cabs. This GK 210 box feels very heavy at 57Lbs and the mesa equivalent is a full 10lbs heavier! Shame they sound so good.

Forgot to say, My advice would be to try as many options as you can then decide how much of a compromise you can live with. I love having light cabs but I'm not sure how much longer the drivers will last and the GK cab with the Deltas sounds so much better than any other cabinet I've used.

Came across this footage from us setting up for last year's young farmers ball at Edinburgh's corn exchange. No music but some Alembic content :-) I didn't realise this was on youchoob! I was in a mild panic as my 4x10 had developed a very annoying rattle. Tracked down later to a couple of mildly blown drivers.

Thanks Flip. That rig comprised an EBS neo 212, EBS neo 410, Fender TBP-1 pre-amp, QSC PLX 2402 power amp and Korg DTR2000 tuner. I was running full range into both cabinets. After the 410 let me down I started using a pair of 212s but split the signal to put the high end through the top cab and the low end through the other as I was having trouble hearing anything above the 7th fret on the D and G strings. That worked ok for a while but I've decided I want to move back to normal drivers instead of NEOs so I'm trying out a few options. Last week I used one of the 212s and replaced the other with a GK 210 cabinet that I've loaded with a pair of Eminence Deltas - that sounded really nice. If you've seen my other thread you'll see I'm looking at the Mesa powerhouse range and I'm pretty sure I'll be going for the 212 / 210 combination.

Here's a pic of my current rig as described in the last post. This was taken at last night's gig at the waverley. Not much room so I was backed right up into the corner. As a result there was too much bottom end - the guitars could have been quieter too - so overall the sound was a bit mushy.

We have a wedding gig on the Bonnie, Bonnie banks of Loch Lomond this saturday then Sunday night we're playing at Whistlebinkies in Edinburgh from 10 till midnight.
