Wildflower Seed

Thought I'd start a new thread to showcase my Grateful dead tribute 'Wildflower Seed'.  Here's a youtube link to an outdoors gig we played in April to a pretty mixed bunch - heads, bikers, crusties and schoolkids. Was pretty cold that night. Some folk lit fires on the hillside which our 'Jerry' points out to me at about 1:30.
Next gig will be 4th July at 'Wake the Lakes', a Harley owners weekend in Cumbria.

Cool video!  It sounds like the audio must have come straight off the board; very clear, and great bass tone.

Thanks Dave. You're right, our guitarist had his Zoom h2 plugged into the desk so he got a pretty good recording of the whole night - about 3 hours worth. Sadly, these two clips are the only video. I'd have preferred the camera crew to have moved around a bit - you can barely tell we have a drummer :-) My sound is Post EQ from a fender TBP-1 preamp. It's a bit woolly in places so I'll be going back to the Mesa Mpulse for the next gig and hopefully it'll brighten the top end a bit.

looking forward to friday's gig at the cumbria harley owner's 'Wake the Lakes' rally. I'll be taking both my fretted MK DX and fretless rogue. This time I'm taking my Mesa Mpulse 600 instead of the fender pre/power set up. Speakers are Mesa 212PH and 210PH.  We'll be camping over the weekend inspite of the very wet forecast. Hopefully Someone (Mrs Jacko) will get some photos of the night.

here we go.  The obligatory band shots - the screen behind was showing scenes from past HOG Wake the Lakes events..

here's one showing just how heavy those Alembic basses can get :-)

  All American boy...

Despite drinking till the early hours this lot very kindly woke us at 7am revving up their steeds.

All in all, a very nice bunch (around 400 in total) who were more than happy to chat about Bikes, Beer and Basses. Brother paul would have loved it.  Graeme

Graeme,     Kool !  The pics bring back my own old memories of such events and runs that I my self participated  in as a musician and other times also as a Harley-Davidson owner and enthusiast.

We're opening the Audio Soup festival this friday in the scottish borders. On at 6pm and playing an hour at most. I'm being provided a markbass head and 2x10 cab so I'm not expecting too much as far as tone goes, never having liked the sound of markbass.

Graeme, I just looked at the festival lineup; the only band on the list I've ever heard of is Wildflower Seed.  So I'm guessing they're the headliners.

Have fun!

Audio Soup was interesting. They couldn't find a step-down adaptor for the generator so we were very late going on. Also the marquee across the field was playing some Ibiza/Techno rubbish which was loud enough to overpower some of our quieter moments. The small audience we had were very appreciative and someone even complemented my playing and noted that the Alembic basses added a certain authenticity that most dead tribute acts were missing :-)

The following saturday (my birthday) we played a good 3 hours at the troqueer arms in Dumfries. Sadly this clashed with the county's 'Wickerman' festival so again, the audience was quite small but the ones that came loved the music so we'll no doubt be asked back.
In true 'dead' fashion we're now on a hiatus (hopefully just till september).

we received a request from Stash radio in germany for some tunes so we've sent them recordings from the Dumfriess gig.
Live broadcast will be on 9 September 10-12 PM CET on Radio FSK:
93,0 MHz antenna - 101,4 MHz cable (Hamburg and vicinity)
www.fsk-hh.org/livestream (everywhere in the world)
Or a bit later on www.stash-radio.de/archiv.htm (mp3 download)
Additionally on 18 September 6-8 PM CET on Radio Weser.TV in
Bremerhaven (www.radioweser.tv).

fame at last. Hopefully it'll generate enough interest to get us onto some european festivals next year.

next gig will be September 20th at the Tibbie Shiels inn  somewhere in the Scottish Borders. It's a bit out of the way.

Saturday evening we'll be playing our first 'post referendum' gig at tibbie Shiels inn in the Scottish Borders. Should be interesting as the band are split 4 - 2 on the independence issue.
