Or the North East. I visit my folks north of Newcastle from time to time. Always good to have something to do in the evening :-)

Gig tomorrow with musical youth at the bearwood may day festival in lightwoods park bearwood, birmingham. On stage at 17:15. Free entry.
If there are any brummies on the forum it would be good to meet up.

A quick pic from the gig.
Series I Europa.

I had the dreaded Ashdown bass rig again today. My views on their stuff are well documented elsewhere on the forum so I will save my breath.

Bring your SF-2 to your gigs. I'm sure it can make even an Ashdown sound great!

Hmm i doubt it somehow unless it was something like an 8x10. The ones I've tried so far have not impressed me. If I used the SF-2 I'd mainly want it for more bottom end focus and that would fry an Ashdown cab.

Perhaps, but it's worth a try. I use my SF-2 to get more bottom end from my Fender Rumble 350 combo, but I don't use it so much as a boost to the bottom end where it could overdrive the speakers. I set it for low pass & turn the frequency knob to tune the speaker response for the room I'm playing. Once I find the frequency that enhances the punch on the bottom end then I adjust the Threshold to fatten up the low end. By doing that I can actually turn the amp down more & still get great bottom end that is both full & punchy without pushing the speakers too hard.

Let's hope you get a decent rig this time V. I've had problems with Ashdown before too. I think the problem is that the company was founded by the guys that sold Trace elliot to Gibson and they basically built Ashdown to sound like Trace. All very well if you want to sound like Mark King but seriously lacking in tonal variation, especially in the bottom end. I sold my Trace because it didn't handle the low B string, and started carrying an eden 300 watt 210 combo into the venues where I knew they'd be providing an Ashdown setup. At least that way I could take the dreaded ABM head out of the equation and just use the supplied ashdown 410 as an extension cabinet.

Looks like a fun line up. Toyah and Aswad too :-)

All the butlins places have ashdown gear except bognor regis which does not have any backline amps. So yeah I think I will do just that, take my walkabout head and 1x15 powerhouse and like you suggest, use the ashdown as an extension cab. (if it sounds any good)

As it happens we were headlining last night and didn't see Aswad or toyah. They may be booked for different days though. Would you believe my Mesa walkabout went crazy last night with some high pitched squeals coming out of the di port but the regular output to my speaker was fine. So to be safe we changed to the ashdown rig between numbers.
Seems like it's gonna have to go for a checkup at a service centre.
