Here is my next gig, standing in on bass for an all female band called EEEk. The current bass player, on the let of the picture, is on a round the world trek. then drummer,  she played drums for my jazz funk band when our drummer was unavailable, guitarist, lead vocalist and backing vocalist on the right from New Jersey.
I've had one rehearsal with them so far and we may have a couple more before the gig.

Here are some links to the band.

They are playing a support slot for a great band called Never the Bride.

Here is a picture from the gig. Not the best exposure but ok. I had a really great time and the band have asked me to do a couple more gigs for them so they must have been happy. The headlining band was Never The Bride and their bass player, who also plays bass for Paul Rogers, told me it was ok to use his bass rig. As it happens his rig was an ashdown...... I did however bring my F1-x in a rack and used that into the return socket and left his settings alone.  I kept the my stage volume low and let the FOH do most of the work as it was a small venue.

When the main band came on they sounded great and bassie was using a 5 string jazz bass. Their drummer's mum sang backing vocals on some of Jimi Hendrix's records.
A great night was had by all.

You Lose ( an original track by the band)

So different from my regular gigs and a useful education in restraint. :-)

Nice stuff, Jazzy, What bass are you playing?  Doesn't look like one of your usuals!

RV_bass, the bass is the one I use mostly for reggae gigs. It's a 5 string, all black, all maple apart from purple heart neck laminates,  Europa with signature electronics and Elan neck.  Great great great sounding bass and after trying my others at rehearsals and practice sessions I decided that was the right bass for the gig even though I never touched the low B.

Davehouck, the vocals are amazing.  Check out this track called Fire star from their album Love, Loss & Bowling.

Interesting thing about that studio is it was the first studio I ever went into. It was in the late 70's when a band I was with was recording an album.  When I got the album from the EEEK band at their album launch last year I realised it was the same studio and called the owner and had a good chat. Funny how things somehow come to a full circle sometimes,

Had another gig last night with Musical Youth at a Ska Weekender at a venue in Skegness, Lincolnshire. Was a really good gig I had my black Europa bass and the band loved it as usual. For me it was a much quieter on-stage sound for a change so I could hear the full bottom end and actually didn't need my ear plugs.

Looks like I'm on TV this weekend on a programme called Where are they Now. It's  on ITV in the UK. Not sure if anyone outside the uk can get the programme live on the internet.  Anyway it's between 19:00 and 20:00 on Sunday  29th May

Well I watched the programme and whilst the video is not focussed on me I managed to get about 5 seconds of exposure on tv with my Series I Europa. And to think we played a whole 90 minute set for the recording.
