Well, it is (less than) 2 weeks to go. Time to get serious with the plans here...

We have a large rehearsal studio room with backline, PA, and lounging area. We should have 2 complete guitar rigs (Fender and Marshall) and 2-3 complete Ampeg mini-stack bass rigs. Pearl drums are included; cymbals are not. The studio supplies a keyboard amp and stand, but no keyboard. I can bring a Kurz PC88mx for any keyboardists that want to bang.

For those interested in bringing a notebook computer and doing live postings, the studio has promised wireless Internet access. You can log on and upload the pics as it happens!

We have contracted with the rehearsal studio to do one hour of ProTools recording. While we have the room (and run of the place) from 11A - 6P, we have arranged one hour of hard disk recording (16 channels) from 4P - 5P. (That gives us another hour to clean up stuff before we have to get out!)

We should identify a few songs/progressions/jams that we would like to get recorded during that hour. If we get the other players (keys, drums, gtrs), we could possibly get a decent recording. It seems like we could max drums, dual keys, dual/triple gtrs, 2 or more vox, and maybe 3 - 5 basses handing off to each other. This probably represents the max simultaneous input for the room. Then we can switch and let the other team play...

It would help a lot if we could identify 2 or 3 pieces that we can all listen to, easily learn, fake, and make stuff up with! That way it improves our chances dramatically of laying down some sonically pleasing bits...

I (bass player in training or rehab, depending upon whom you argue with) plan to bring a couple of basses (S2 and Spoiler, both 4-strings) and a combo bass amp with DI out. I have a Fender TBP-1 I can bring out if someone wants to audition one of those and contrast it to an F-1X. Also, I shall be bringing an 88-key weighted kybd that I cannot play, but it will be there for any keyboardist that comes without.

I know that many are bringing multiple instruments so for anyone coming without an axe, we should have something for you to play. I have seen in this thread and emails that some of you plan to bring more backline (Phil Jones, IN-2, Sunn Coliseum) and that is good. That helps to get multiple inputs to the recording/PA desk.

Guitarists, it seems that 2 - 3 players could keep things going all day.

Keyboardists, we need one more set of keys and then we could have 2 complete keyboard rigs. If we can get two keyers that would be great (of course, as always if 2 is good then 3 is better because of insurance and rest purposes).

2 - 3 drummers would mean that they could relieve one another. We only really need one set of cymbals though.

Vox? Besides Todd, I don't know who you are. You know who you are!

BTW - Parking is free and access to the room for setups will begin about 10:45

Following have confirmed via email or on this list. If you don't see your handle below, speak up!

I can bring a Yamaha synth with 88 weighted keys and my keyboardist is indicating he will be able to join us - I 'll confirm with him tomorrow night. I'll bring my 74 series I and my 78 Koa Eagle bass as well. Todd

Cool...I'm planning on coming with my series II and SCSD.  I can also bring an extra bass amp.

Hopefully I'll know some songs that others know....There are a bunch of dead tunes I do know. Any other dead fans coming?

Greg,

Dead tunes are good by me. I hope my schedule remains clear for the 8th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey Greg, that is great about the amp and (of course) I look forward to getting a chance to see (and maybe play) that SII of yours. Are you still coming with keyboardist and drummer?

Awww man! Would have loved this! Only 1.5 hours away, and in my old neighborhood. As it stands though, I have 2 gigs that day, 1-4 pm then a wedding from 6-11 pm. Great that I'm playing every weekend, but man, I miss alot of other cool stuff.

Harold, at an event like this I'd be reluctant to spend too much time behind the kit, but if at any point we end up w/out a drummer, I'd be happy to play.

Hey, Guys!  I'm hoping to make it out there, for the Gathering.  I'm wondering if anyone is going to be passing through my area and the possibility of some kind of carpooling...  I live in Erie, PA.  There's also the possibility of my bringing my 2 Kustom rigs- 2 1200 Watt Kustom Groove Bass Heads and 2 4x10 1000 watt cabs.  The only rub is that I have to be back in time to play a show with my band, OTiS, in Cleveland, at Peabodys, Sunday, August 9th.  If I can't make it back by afternoon, I'd probably have to drive myself, which I'd rather avoid.  If I do drive, I'm considering bringing my amps, anyways, but I'm not completely sure.  I'm planning to leave Friday, sometime in the afternoon or early evening- it's a 6 1/2 hour drive one way, from here.  If anyone would like to carpool, please let me know.  Just respond to the e-mail in my profile, and I'll reply right away.

Thanks!

Frank

I'll also be bringing a few effects pedals, possibly my SF-2, and of course, my 2 Alembic 6s.

Peace;)
