Northern California IV anyone?
« Reply #75 on: April 15, 2011, 11:21:06 AM »
I remember when I picked up my Distillate in Mission Viejo, Ca. I drove 421 miles from Oakland one way     and back again on the same day.  (yes 842 miles !) but I would not do that again!   I used I-5 most of the way.  LOL______ I am proud to say that I used no chemical enhancements to do so;  just the pure joy of realizing what I was about to acquire was all that was necessary.I needed to be back for work and pick up my Wife from the Airport who was visiting family out of State. I found that I was still in practice driving long routes from driving a long bobtail truck from Florida to California in 5 Days a few years earlier. It took almost 2 days to get across the great state of Texas @ the speed limit.

Thanks Bill! I will do that! At this point it looks like my visit to the factory will be June 22 if they are still doing tours on Wednesdays. Wolf, you are right about the drive across Texas! I live in the Houston area & it takes all day to get to El Paso, & I'm starting about in the middle of the state! Texas is definitely a big state! They are talking about raising the speed limit in parts of the state to 85, so that will help with the long drive to Hollywood. Although I will be doing it in a U Haul, so I don't know if it will do 85! LOL!

Rusty:

Ssshhhhhh. Don't tell anyone else, but the factory tour schedule at Alembic is usually EXTREMELY flexible.  Just give them a head's up and I suspect you can drop by almost any day, even if it's not a Wednesday!!!!  But let's keep this between you and me, O.K?  hehehehe

And I'll try to make a lunch too.

Bill, tgo

We drove from the bay area to San Antonio in 2 days. It's pretty bad when you think of El Paso being intersting, cause there is NOTHING between that and San Antonio! Interstate 5 to LA is much more scenic!

I would make sure to check in with Mica or Mary about your visit. There are times they can't accomodate.

So, what's for lunch?
:-)

I'll also have my Mesa Walkabout Scout with me, as well as my Knutson Messenger EUB and my Peavey Cirrus as the basses and I will all be going to entertain the fine folks at the Italian American Social Club in SF afterwards. Oh, and I'll actually have 2 versions of the Super Prince with me too. If you're curious about just what the heck is a Super Prince, there's pics here:

HI Ken , perhaps you will join us as well  ?   Well I am thinking of one of two  local buffets in Berkeley . There is Bacheeso's ,( Mediterranean )and Mint Leaf , (Indian). Both places offer a very satisfying large quite tasty  Bang for your Buck deal and an atmosphere for jubilant boisterous discussions . There are many good choices form Alameda to Santa Rosa. There is a great Mexican place in the City of Alameda as well.

Hey Wolf, that sounds like a great idea! I will let you know when it get's closer to the date. At this point it looks like we will be heading that way around June 17. It took us 3 days driving out there in January to get my son settled in school, but we could have done it in 2. I'm thinking it will take the full 3 days in a U Haul though. Lunch sounds like fun! I would love to meet some of the legends of the forum I have been reading! Bill, I will get with Mica & Mary when I know for sure what our plans are. It will probably be during the week of June 20 - 24, so I can do Wed. or any other day. We will have my son moved into his Apartment over the weekend, so I'll have the whole week to be a tourist! Ken, you are right, there is not much to see on I-10 in Texas from border to border!

Harry - Is that your graphite bass?  I don't think I've seen that one before.

I love it!
