Rorschach Test (again!)
« on: January 17, 2012, 10:07:44 PM »
I showed this bass to my husband last night, and he said, wow, that looks like a rottweiler coming right for you!

I was showing him how the grain radiated out of the pickups, and now all I can see is that dog - right down to the ear and the teeth (or is that a bridge?)

haha yeah he has good vision. It probably  a good reflection on it's sound. Strong meaty with a powerfully crisp bite to the tone.   Chomp Chomp

Hmm, I see two serpents juxtaposed with fangs gripping the pickups.  But I'm more than a little weird. . .

Okay, now I'm seeing it.

OK, I can see both of those - but my first thought was femurs & an under-developed pelvis.  Then, between the bridge & tailpiece (inside the Rott's mouth, so to speak), the neck covers the middle of a human mouth.  And of course, in the upper bouts, kneeling on the dark wood facing the fretboard, are (left) a guy in a striped suit and (right) a woman in a matching long dress.  All in all, an amazing piece of wood!

Clearly you are all very, very unwell. Luckily, I can help you--all you have to do is send me all your Alembics (especially the one that started this thread--wow!) and I'll get right back to you with the miracle cure. The first 10 respondents will also receive an Alembic prayer cloth(full disclosure--they'll look a lot like the polish cloths you can get from Mica, but mine will have special magical treatment! Now how much would you pay?), which you can use to pray for new Alembics you can more fully appreciate in your new, improved state of well-being. Act now!

As a psychologist (who was once trained in administration and interpretation of the Rorschach) I could have a field day interpreting what everyone sees in this beautiful piece of Buckeye burl. Fortunately, many years ago back in graduate school I learned that there is no research basis at all for this type of personality assessment. It appears that what you see is nothing more than what you see and what I see is a gorgeous bass that I'll probably never be able to afford.
