Streaming or Video recording the Gatherings
« on: July 17, 2015, 01:12:43 AM »
Looks like gathering season is upon us and I was wondering this morning if anyone hosting or attending future gatherings could organise for some of it to be streamed live or even provide video recorded highlights on you tube or some other hosting place for us to see and hear some of these instruments played by forum members. Mobile phones and laptops are capable of taking acceptable video and sound these days so if the venue had wifi then this could be an easy thing to achieve at little or no cost.

What say you?

Jazzy:

I recently picked up a Sony audio/video camera designed specifically for music.   I hadn't thought about bringing it, but you make an excellent suggestion.  I'll set it up and post it on youtube  if it turns out decent.

That'd be sooo cool Bill.
I'm hoping next year I can make the trip.

If someone could duck-tape GoPro cameras to dachshunds and get a drunk to play this:

  ... through this:

  ... Into this:

... you could do a passable recreation of the "Acid Tests" online. Just a suggestion.

I'm glad you lived to tell the tale, then. John Cippolina, huh? I meant no disrespect. I had no idea until now.

I assumed it was from a Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame exhibit called altar to the goddess Tinnitus or something.

I only saw it because I was searching Standel Studio 60 bass amps, and there are two of them side by side at the bottom of the central pyramid thing.

I played upright and Fender P Bass through one all through high school. That amp was my first love. Those were the Disco years, too, when anybody with a bass and amp could make a grand a weekend just by staying upright and counting to four.

Here's a great conversation about Standel:

The Studio series was the second generation after Bob Crooks (whom I assume was not aptly named) switched from tubes to solid state. That thing had balls, frankly. Especially on theatrical productions, with conductors, where everything is so finely nuanced. It turned you into a wall of thump. God, I miss that amp.

I just realized why i feel all girly and weird. I just saw a picture of my ex-amp. I need a hug.

Chocolate, too.

Thanks, Forest - I've never been able to figure how to set up a Strat; I see I've been doing it all wrong!

John wired the SG in stereo; ran the neck p/up through the Standels & the bridge through the Fenders.  Qouth Cip - I like the rapid punch of solid-state for the bottom, and the rodent-gnawing distortion of the tubes on top.

Yes, quite a pedal board, though I think they wasted their money on the tuner.  Who would notice?

hehehehe
