Merry Christmas and happy new year to Alembic and fans,
In fact for a few months I couldn't do anything but stare at Alembic gallery; however ordering a custom bass is financially out of reach for the moment.
Until I got an opportunity to bid for a Spoiler S83 shown in ebay, which I finally bought from Scotland!
I was lucky to receive it in mint conditions last week and I find it very nice to play.
This is definitively another world than Squier jbass I got as beginner. I found that bass difficult and not ergonomic : some strings buzzing, action problems, bow not good impossible to improve, leverage left hand, not well balanced.
Now the balance is ok. For fingers, I prefer very much this is actually a 32 scale than 34.
What I like in music is Jazz, as in works from Monk, Coltrane, Mingus..., electric blues as from Muddy Waters, and musical researchs as Zappa or Soft
machine. I've seen live Muddy Waters in 1977, Zappa in 1974 and 1978, Art Blakey and JM in 1979, ...etc.
Since 1975 I am also fan of John Mc Laughlin, Canterbury rock music, specially Soft machine, Henry cow, Caravan, Hatfield, King crimson, Jethrow tull, Wyatt, Eno, Hopper... I like Grateful Dead too?
So I love sound from upright bass jazz, as much as I love research sounds for instance Hugh Hopper or Jack Bruce in Apostrophe.
For the moment, I strain to sound clear, the more acoustic possible, (for effects, I'll wait further). In that aim, I bought an Ampeg combo BA115HP, for it's classic natural sound.
Whith a friend electric guitarist, I play Jazz and classical blues with parts from my teacher Bruno Chaza.
