Welcome to the club and good luck on the MK.  BTW, if you need to change a post you can click on the pencil and paper icon at the upper right corner of your post and edit it.

Hi davr35,

Be sure to keep us informed of your progress...after your recovery, then you can let us know when you can order the MK.  Just a bit of humor.

Welcome,
Darrell

Hello David
Glad you could join us. The MK is a good choice. That's next on my wish list. Although my personal taste runs towards the darker woods or Zebrawood, the 5A quilted maple will be stunning. Are you thinking of the standard body shape or the new Balance K?

I'm thinking of the Balance K Omega with contours. I love that shape. I have always wanted an Alembic but that new body shape has pushed me over the edge I have got to have one.... maybe my wife will not notice a new bass around the house

Hey Dave, welcome to the club.

You might start hinting to senior management (the term for wives around here) about how you've always wanted a Porsche and you've reached the time of your life to seriously consider getting one.  Leave some brochures around, maybe a Road & Track opened to a Porsche ad.  After a few days of this, tell her how much you love her and you've decided to get youself an Alembic instead - much cheaper than the Porsche - and use some of the saved $ to buy her some jewelry.

Just a thought.

Brother Bill TGO ...THAT scheme has a fair chance to work out wrong. Most senior managements -depends how senior and how management they are- DO LIKE Porsches.
Now if you change Porsche by Yamaha Z1200 (or whatever speedmacdhine suitable for men in middle age) it WILL work.

Paul the bad one

BTW ...don't try it with Harley ...Brother Paul the fake one (the artist formerly know as Dino) can witness THAT story!

Why not an Alembic AND a Harley? You'd still come out cheaper than a Porsche, though not by much.

Well senior management won't let me get the Harley either so I might push that angle.. the Porsche thing would not work as she has it picked out already

Dave,

Just be honest about your desire to own a lifelong dream, and how you've always wanted one, and how much of a better husband it would make you.  Eventually she'll break down and give in...maybe...God Speed...

Dave,

What I did about 2 years ago was I e-mailed my wife about 2 weeks before my birthday the link to the Starry Night Featured custom, as a sort of joke (Hint Hint in the title, etc.) Her response almost made me fall over: So, which model do you want? Six months later, we actually went up to Alembic to pick woods for the bass. It CAN happen...
