Happy holidays to all. I am a long time reader and I figured it was time to join this group of Alembic lovers. I am paciently waiting for my first custom to be built. It's a Mark King 5 string balance K with series 2 electronics and a host of other goodies onboard.

Welcome from Monmouth County, Pete. Congratulations on your decision to purchase one of the world's finest bass guitars. Check with Mica to see if she will start a 'Factory to Customer' thread for you, so we all can follow the progress as she comes to life. Flaxattack, Where on Long Island are you located? I was born in Woodhaven, Queens and moved to Lindenhurst at age 8. lived there till 20 then moved to SLC Utah were I live now.

Welcome from Union County Pete, I had considered a MK as well, but I really like the triple omega body style, I ordered my custom in the end of october, and I can't wait to see it come to life and for it to arrive, I know it will be worth the wait........its over the top, a dream bass.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome.I look forward to seeing all the new basses & guitars in the FTC. They give me new ideas on how to spend more money on what will be my dream bass.Bruce, I was born and raised in Union County. My original design was to have the big body, but Susan advised against it in favor of the Balance K body style.

Yeah there are so many choices, I'm looking foward to the FTC on my bass , I've looked at all the featured customs and some of the FTC's and played a Triple Omega in a local store, My Series I 5 string body is huge, but is comfortable, ( I'm used to playing heavy basses...6,7, 8 and 12 string).

So why did Susan advise against the big body ?

my favs are the Series I, Series II and Stanley Clarke bodies with the Crown and/or Knobby Pegheads

Bruce, It wasn't so much that Susan advised against a big body, but felt that the new Balance K would offer a better balance in a 35 inch, 5 string instrument. I love the look of the big body as well, but one of the reasons that Alembic is as successful as they are is their willingness to build their customers whatever they want. The thing I like most about working with Susan is her ability to take all of my wants and needs and filter them into the appropriate form. As has been said before, the big body was designed around a 4 string and does not work as well with the longer scales and 5 & 6 string models. I respect her opinion and decided to go with her suggestions.

yeah Susan is great I spoke with her about my Series I before purchasing it, she was very informative and helpful.

When ordering my new Series II, I had quite a few conversations with Val as well, after owning my Series I for a while now and looking at the featured customs and FTC's I know the very talented craftsmen at Alembic will make me a masterpiece of an instrument.
thats why I chose Alembic to build my first custom bass.

I have a ( used) Fodera Monarch Elite fretless 6 that's 35 scale, the body isn't quite as big as a Series I or II but it balances well and is comfortable.

You sure will get a masterpeice.
There are a lot of other bass builders that offer lots of wood lams, and great electronics. And they make very nice insturments. But it seems to me that all the people at Alembic build a soul into these things.
Can't wait to progress pics of that series.
