Hi Everyone,
I'm cosmo and just wanted to say I'm real close to buying a Skylark - and excited! I prefer the medium scale neck and body shape - and I can't afford a Tribute anyway. A big thanks to Valentino and Mica for their help and friendly input over the past couple of weeks. LED's - anyone got 'em? How do you like them? Is the extra weight from all the batteries signigficant? Any input on the LED's would be most welcome. Thanks, seems like a great group of folks here.

I'm a bassist rather than a guitarist, but I find the side LEDs to be invaluableplaying clubs where the lights can be anywhere or nowhere. I haven't got lost on the fretboard since I first got them. I have factory LEDs on my fretless and FretFX (Hotdots) on my fretted Epic. They are agreat addition when you're fighting poorly placed stage lights.
Other six stringers will show up shortly, so stay strapped in for the ride!

Welcome cosmo. Seems like more and more guitar players are showing up in these parts. I'm sure you will be pleased with a Skylark. I love mine - I really don't play anything else these days. It's exceptionally clean and very flexible. I don't have LEDs on my Skylark but they will be installed on my custom Further on order: blue with a dimmer, I believe. To be honest, I included them more for aesthetic reasons (long story) than practical.

Welcome Cosmo! I'm sure you will love your new Alembic. I play bass so the only tip I can offer you regarding weight is to go with the plastic or wood covers, as brass is much heavier.

Hi cosmo- I'm new here too.I own a further and i can also say ...You will love your Alembic,it will be unlike any other guitar,every alembic i have seen in person are pure works of art.i don't have LEDs and aren't missing them,but i am gonna spring for some hot dotz.

Welcome to the club. I posted the same question when I ordered my soon-to-be-completed (fingers crossed) Further. My initial thought is that they were a little gimmicky, but the response I received was so overwhelmingly positive that I went for them. I'm getting side LEDs (the front ones really are just for show IMHO). I opted for red, (with double amber on the 12th and 24th frets), as red doesn't degrade night vision. After considering it, I elected not to get a dimmer switch as I tend to find a setting I like and stick with it on most things, so I figured the internal trim pot adjustment would be sufficient. My Further will be my 3rd Alembic and first custom. I started on an '83 Electrum and added a '76 Series 1 I bought on eBay a couple of months ago. If you've never played an Alembic before, you're going to be blown away. They are almost a different instrument unto themselves. Piano power with six strings!
