Halo everyone!
« on: September 30, 2006, 11:09:38 AM »
Well its official everybody, I am an Alembic owner!  and am quite proud.  After playing Warwicks for quite some time, i began fishing for something else.  Dont get me wrong, Warwicks are quite impressive, but this alembic BLEW ME AWAY.(preaching to the choir here)   Its a 96 Epic 4 bubinga top, and beautiful.  It does have a few cosmetic issues however that need to be addressed.  The clear coat is coming up in a few places, the Alembic logo on the neck P.U. has worn in places, few dings ect.  I dont really mind the dings but the clear coat i would like to bring back to luster, along with the logo.  Any advice???  I think it deserves a new lease on life!

cheers everyone!

Hi Drew and welcome,
I responded to your post in the Owning... thread.
Be sure to look in the FAQs and Must Reads at the top of the club's front page for info on finishes, controls, etc. Also look in the site index under The Support for the owners manual and how to register your Epic.
Congratulations, you're gonna love playing your Epic.

Hello Drew, welcome to the group and congratulations on the Epic.  I know you'll enjoy it.  How about posting some photos in the Showcase section?

Other than me being old enough to be your uncle we have a few things in common, the Epic 4 string for starters, truly an amazing instrument. My current bass teacher is a former Metal guitarist. He made the statement that he can't believe how good it plays; N. Illinois, I left Rockford for Florida in '69; & finally Warwick, I love my 4 string Thumb.  My pal Georgie Boy thinks I'm nuts for that.

His name is Kent Smedley but I doubt you would know the name.  He's currently focusing on teaching classical guitar.  I think I'm his only bass student.  I wanted a different perspective so asked him if he would take me on.  My first session he said nice bass asked what it is.  When I said Alembic he immediately looked at the headstock.  Now every week he has to play it a little himself.

Wish I could Drew but like I said I left in 1969 and haven't been back.  I'm not sure I could find Joliet.

Maybe I just aint tried a good one!!
I've only played 3 or 4, and hated the necks. The sound didn't do too much for me either.
Sam you're just nuts anyway!
