Stan, where are you living now? Jobs are plentiful in Las Vegas, and the weather is better than most places -though hot in the Summer. You can also obtain cheap temporary housing.
I'm not in a position to promise anything, but it's possible I might be able to help you get situated here if it's something you want to consider.

I'm a poor f@#k myself, not a connected big-shot or anything, but I've lived here a while, and know the town. It's relatively easy to get started here, compared to most places. If you're down and out, and you can afford a bus ticket here, there is more opportunity here than most places.
I sure hope you don't have to sell your bass, but I understand sometimes desperate measure are necessary. I'd be very cautious dealing with scam-bay. I've had a bad experience with them, and would NEVER consider dealing with them again.
