My BlackKnife Pictures/12 string Modulus
« on: January 27, 2009, 10:48:52 AM »
Here's the pictures of my BlackKnife and my custom Modulus 12 string Modululs.  The Knife is from 1979 and I am the original owner.  I think it's #11.  Really low number.  I bought it from Jim who own's Bag End Sound Systems.  It orignally had Bartolini pickups and dot inlays on the fret board.  I gave it back to Modulus and the changed the pickups to EMG for me and removed the dot inlays(I really hate fret markers on the board).

The 12 string I obviously ripped off the design from Greg Lake's 8 string Bass from the Work's Album/Tour.  Pistol grips etc.  I got the idea for the angled flame maple from a pic of and Alembic Bass that was drop dead beautiful.  They made this for me originally in about 6 months and it turned out horribly.  I was so upset that they sold that guitar and made me this one.  Part of the problem were saws that they had now acquired which remidied the issue.  This guitar took 2 years to build.  I had it set up scale wise the same as the BK so I wouldn't have to reorient each time.

Both sound really great.  Of course w/the graphite necks you get harmonics like crazy.
