I have just joined this group and have a 1972 Alembic guitar.
It's serial number is 72-13.

Can anyone help me with information on this model and perhaps the history of the instrument? It seems to be an very early model.

Thanks for the welcome.
This guitar was made for Neil Young and has been in his collection since that time.
It's my guess that no one has played it or given it any wear since the 1970's.

What I don't know is how he came to own it and what those circumstances were.

So, does Neil still own it or did you buy it from him? Those cool backdrops were first used on the Rust Never Sleeps tour I think. Nice Alembic!

Absolutely wonderful. I've been a huge Neal Young fan since the early 70s and just finished a tour as bassist and vocalist with Powderderfinger. Would love to hear more about this amazing instrument and the history.
