Hi from England
« on: January 14, 2011, 05:26:11 AM »
My names Allan, I live on the isle of Wight in England UK, I've never owned or even played an alembic but hopefully that's about to change, at the moment I have a 6 string fretless wal that I'm looking to sell or trade for a series 2 5 or 6 string alembic, so I'm hoping to find out some info about these on here.

Welcome to the Alembic Forum. I see you are from the Isle of Wight. That's Level 42's home territory.

I hope you find a bass to your liking.
This is really the best place to find out about them and maybe secure a sale. There seem to be quite a few Alembics appearing for sale these days on this forum and on Ebay.

Thank you for the welcome guys, yes I live 20 minutes away from Mr king, I love the sound of his alembic & need to find out if a series 2 5 string will sound similar as I love the look of them

Hi Allan,
another Alembic owning, Hampshire resident here, good luck in your search, you won't regret it...
Maybe not such a great time to shift your Wal but definitely a good time to make a purchase. Alembics pop up on Basschat uk from time to time too, but you will only find the wealth of knowledge about Alembics here.
Check out the specs of basses on the custom quote calculator.

Hi Jake, Thank you for that

I'm on basschat too (littleal)
I know it's not such a good time to sell at the moment, but i'm so tempted to try an alembic,
What Alembic do you have?

Hi Al
you're welcome, I have an MK sig balance K 5 string with a heart omega. It's a fab bass and you can catch me playing it here:

I'm currently working on an album project with that band, we have most of the tracking done so onto overdubs and mixing next month, I've used the Alembic on all but one of the tracks it's been a joy.
I'm Jakesbass on basschat I'll keep an eye out for you over there too.
Cheers
Jake

Alan, Greetings to the Isle of Wight!  Still enjoy The Who DVD from that location.  Good luck with your obtaining that first Alembic!  Jake, great clip of the new project.
